Moving to Stamford-which secondary school/area?

Cannot afford to go private and also have primary to deal with so need to bear that in mind also. Are the schools here over-subscribed or would we be in with at least a slight chance of getting in? Don't know which area to look for houses until know more about schools really.

I may be out of date but not being able to afford private may not matter. I know a 19 year old from Stamford who has just left the public school there, apparently if you live in the village/town you took an 11+ and went there instead of being bussed out to grammar school. Not sure if this is still the case but she left in 2009 I think never having paid fees. Be worth looking at?

We need to move Stamford or close to because of husband’s job, looking for good secondary school for our children y7 and y10, we can’t afford private school, any advice please???
