What type of test is it
Ds got a place at a different school under aptitude for technology
It was a comparison of their verbal reasoning and non verbal reasoning scores so not a certain pass mark

drosophila · 12/03/2011 21:58

No it is a test to see if you have an aptitude in technology - computers and the like. It is done in addition to a verbal and non verbal reasoning test.

This was done as a seperate test. But that was the test. It tests aptitude not ability

Basically they were supposed to be better at the NVR. However if you look at DS's CAT tests there is only 2 marks difference on all the tests.

Anyone else any experience of technology test scores needed for admission to Harris C Palace?

Thanks

Hi, the highest score on the tech test for Harris is 30. I'm waiting to hear back from them about the highest and lowest score of those 18 applicants who were offered a place. I'll let you know what they say.

You can request any information you want from them... under a Freedom of Information Act request. They have to respond with the information within 20 working days or give you a very good reason for not doing so.

I have being doing quite a lot of research for an appeals at Harris CP. If you want to compare notes pls feel free to private message me.

As the admission criteria says that 10% of the intake will be on aptitude to technology, the school must admit the 18 pupils who gain the highest scores in this aptitude test.

The reality is that this could in a really bad year mean that far more than the 18 gain the maximum possible mark of 30 or they could have really low marks. So I am not sure that knowing the kind of scores is going to be relevant to whether you get a palce on this criteria if it is for any year other than the current year.

StOlaf. I phoned the school recenlty and innocently asked what score would you need in th etechnology test to get a place. I asked what score did you need this year for instance. SHe said about 25. Hope that is of some help to you. Did you get any response from your FOI request.

It really annoys me that our kids have to do several tests (my ds did 6) and then they are reluctant to tell us their results. We got our first choice so in theory we don't need the info but I am curious and so is DS. Wandsworth schools are quite happy to give the info but the other boroughs are not. I have not bother doing a FOI as it seems heavy handed for me when it is just out of curiosity but maybe I should out of devilment Grin

Does anyone point me in the direction of published school information about the admission selection based on technology? I can't find anything except for them saying that the top 10% are chosen. I have heard a rumour that this is actually a random selection of the 10%-like other bands.
