Could you have a look at this thread (please)
on the second page re. english results

Can students be penalised for the school entering them late?

What are the grade boundaries like, can 25 and 57 fall in the same grade?

Was it marks or UMS points?

If it is UMS points (and this is what is normally put on results slips), it is highly unlikely that 25 and 57 would be the same grade. UMS grade boundaries stay the same for each module. In maths it's 80 = A, 70 = B, 60 = C, 50 = D, 40 = E and anything under 40 is a U.

The candidates will not be affected by school entering them late. The school itself may have been penalised in the form of higher entrance fees. The person marking the scripts would know absolutely nothing about the circumstances of the entry. Whoever told your daughter that is talking rubbish. Results slips have UMS points on them, not the actual marks given for the question by the examiner. I'll look up last year's grade boundaries for you, may not be able to access info until I get to work tomorrow. Which exam board was it?

Sorry - just re-read thread and realise it's not your DD. I think there must be some confusion here - perhaps one mark is just for a written paper and the other for the paper plus coursework, in which case it would make perfect sense for double the points to equate to the same grade.

Thanks for the info Lizzy, the OP of that thread has started another one in AIBU that picked up faster than this one last night
