Slough Grammar/Kendrick/Tiffin

Does anyone have any experience of the relative difficulty in getting places at these schools?

I'm guessing that with only (only!!) 600 applicants for 96 places that Kendrick would not be as hard to get into as Tiffin but I was surprised to read that Slough Grammar had about 10 applications per place and so is nearly as oversubscribed as Tiffin. I noticed though that its results don't seem to put it in the same league as Tiffin and Kendrick so is the calibre of the applicants lower or is it more laid back when you get there?

I am curious because my DD sat Slough Grammar more as a practice for Kendrick than anything else and she achieved a score which would historically result in a place . I am hopeful that this means she might have made it into Kendrick as the odds there would seem better than Slough. I know it's all pointless speculation but with 1st March so near, pointless speculating is all I seem to do.

Has anyone's DC sat Tiffin and Slough or Slough and Kendrick and able shed any light on their competitiveness to get into?

Kendrick is notorious!

If you live in the Slough area please think carefully about a daily trip to Reading. They gets loads of work to do and it makes such a long day (but I do know loads do it as they have no catchment).

My DD failed btw (and was considered a dead cert by all teachers etc), but we survived.

I work with Kendrick students, and all those I know are lovely as well as extremely intelligent.

Thanks Milliways. Actually we aren't far from Reading, just did Slough for practice!

I actually know one girl who started at Kendrick last year but had to drop out and go to her local comp because the commute was too much.
