Long shot but anyone have any Crusades/Saladin resource sheets?

DSD (yr8) has lost a sheet containing resources about the crusades and Saladin. have tried ringing friends but no luck :( it's due wednesday but no chance of getting the sheet in the meantime.

it had 9 sources - pictures and quotes from what I can gather, and then a load of questions comparing the sources and their reliability, usual stuff.

she's decided though, that instead of just not doing anything, she would like to do a little mini project on it - any ideas or resources please?

Was the sheet from The Schools' History Project Series, Discovering the Past?
I've got the book here, could type you some quotes and questions from it if you want.

Yep, the school uses moodle but only for a few subjects, not humanities. A friend emailed her the questions but they are all specific to the sources on the sheet she's lost. Was hoping to find it online but no luck.

I've found lots of info about crusades/Saladin but they are all quite complex. DSD finds reading difficult so I'll be translating - not easy as I know sod all about this topic! I was hoping there would be simpler resources but I guess it's not covered in primary school.

She's going to make her own info sheet about it (they haven't had any teaching on it, just watched a video. Quel surprise )

Info sheet comparing the two key figures, Saladin and Richard?

It could've been! She doesn't know though. There were 9 sources, and questions like "compare descriptions of Saladin in sources 1 and 2" and "which person in the picture do you think is supposed to be Saladin?"

There wasn't anything on this sheet about Richard, but they have done a bit about him in class, so would perhaps be useful.

Things like quotes would be fantastic as at least she can analyse them. We already have the questions, it's the sources we don't have.

Acre and the Christian prisoners, if
Richard would let the Muslims leave the
city. In return, they would give 200,000
gold pieces. As a guarantee that they
would carry out these conditions, they
offered as hostages all the important
men in the city. Saladin had one month to
hand over the money and the Christian
prisoners.
When the month had passed, Richard waited for three weeks to see if Saladin would keep his promise.
When it
became clear that Saladin had not taken
any steps to keep his word, Richard
ordered 2700 of the Muslim hostages to
be taken from the city and hanged. His
solders marched forward with delight to
take revenge upon those who had
destroyed so many Christians.

meant to allow the Muslim hostages to go free, but if the money was not given they were to be taken into slavery.
When Saladin delayed in paying the money, Richard broke his word to the hostages.
He put his secret plan into effect,
even after he had received the money and the
Christian prisoners.
He and his army marched to the centre of
the Plain. Then they brought up the Muslim prisoners, more than 3,000 men in chains. They then massacred them in cold blood with sword and lance.
Many reasons were given for this slaughter. One was that they had killed them as revenge for the Christians killed by Muslims.
Another was that Richard had decided to march on Ascalon and did not want to leave behind him a large number of enemy soldiers.

FFS! I am SO PISSED OFF.

So DSD took the HW in today - it wasn't due til tomorrow but she was anxious about getting told off for losing the sheet.

Teacher didn't appreciate it at all and wouldn't even take the 4 pages we'd printed. Even though DSD had answered all the questions. She just gave her the sheet and told her "your answers have to be on the sheet".

I give up.

Well, at least she'll really know her stuff having had to do it twice. It is that sort of unimaginative idiocy that puts students off certain subjects.

Too right. I rarely read MN posts out to DH but he wholeheartedly agrees with yours.

We are sorely tempted to complain, but DSD would freak out at the idea tbh, she's easily embarrassed.
