Would love to hear any personal experiences of this school.

It seemed nice enough, and I was impressed by the head, but not sure how it matches up to schools like the Oratory and Cardinal Vaughan.

Its certainly not in the same league as CVMS or the Oratory. More like Finchley Catholic Boys.
I don't know any boys there but I have heard that its a decent school. Rather traditional and strong on sports. Quite a mixed intake.

Thanks for that. I know it's not considered 'desirable' in the same way that the Vaughan and the Oratory are, but tbh we didn't like either CVMS or LOS -- have heard too many tales of excessive discipline, and also felt they were perhaps a bit smug and too much of a law unto themselves.

I don't know much about FCH, as we're not in catchment for it (not far out, but still too far). Presumably you're not quite in the same bit of norf london as we are!

StI has playing fields on site which we really liked, and there seemed to be a good buzz to the place. Anyone else with first hand experience?

Bumping for you as I can't believe there's no one on mnet with experience of StI's... Hmm

bruffin · 04/11/2010 13:12

Funnily enough I live quite close but over the border so different LEA, it's a lot closer than my dcs own school, and I never hear anybody talking about it as a school at all.

Although when I went to school in the 70s a couple of my friends went out with the boys from St IgnaciousGrin

AuntAda · 04/11/2010 19:06

Well that's not much good to me now, is it? We're talking Sept 2012 here, not 1970wotsit.

Wink

Bruffin, get one of your friends who snogged a ignatian boy to post a message. That would count as first hand experience which is what frogs asked for Grin

My sons attends this school. I thought it was for the best. I was severely wrong. They bullied my disabled son. So badly he had to change form classes. They tried to label him a racist by trying to force him to say the n word. He never did as the man who raised him is 100% Jamaican and he knows better. They have stolen his 90quid trainers. They have robbed him of snacks in his bag. They give detentions to him on stuff that is in in ehcp which is a struggle for him. I have told them repeatedly that on Friday we have shit to do and he can not do a Friday detention but guess what they do not care about plans u already have. They do not care if u call up and remind them, they do not care if you tell them on the stupid MCAS app. They do not care that you even emailed them about it. Also they send useless emails out about stuff the whole school is doing like my son is in year 9 and is my only child. Why do I need emails about year 7 trips or year 8 exams? Or a trip to china which I never showed interest in as its over £1000.00 why email me about jobs? I, have asked repeatedly to stop sending me useless emails to no avail. Same with the MCAS app. I can't opt out of recieveing notification about everything and to get the notification to clear you need to personally open each and every notification... I have over 80. I refuse to open. I now refuse to open emails from them too. I actually do not like this school no more. The kids are horrid. And the staff is no better also the classes on how to be a better person clearly failed because how did my son get so bullied he come home with bruises in the shape of hands where other kids grabbed him so hard they left an imprint. Even requesting a formal meeting with the bullies parents the school refused to do. Also they accidently sent out a full contact list of every students year and their parents contact details like phone number address and email. They didn't realise until I downloaded it and figured it out and called them like do u know u sent out the wrong thing right?? And it was still up for download like 30mins later because they sent it on the MCAS app. And we the parents cant delete messages only the IT department can delete stuff. So I could have found the bully and his parents myself but I didn't want to cause more aggravation for my son. Each time we reported the bullying it got worse. They didn't do a thing to actually stop it until I said change his form class as the next step would be to pull from this school all together.
