Is anyone a happy customer? And, if so, what is the pastoral care like?

Bump.
Thinking of it for my DD for 6th form IB. My DH went there but that was 25 years ago. Would be interested to hear any views too.

YetAnotherMum · 28/09/2010 23:09

I've no personal experience but a colleague sends his child there. He commented that there were a lot of foreign children in the 6th form there, esp Germans, probably due to the IB. This may be a good or a bad thing.

Recently had a lovely new sports centre built.

Lots of the local GPs seem to send their children there.

No experience of the school but Malvern is a lovely town.

loopyloops · 29/09/2010 09:50

I live here, and no 1st hand experience of the school, but known a few students I would say it is excellent in terms of facilities, range of students, they all seem to be quite happy with the staff...
Malvern is lovely, and there's no risk of them getting up to anything they shouldn't nothing even happens here!

acebaby · 29/09/2010 10:01

loopyloops - you'd be surprised how much trouble teenagers can get into in Malvern! But it is a nice place to go to school Smile

loopyloops · 29/09/2010 10:11

Oh? My teenage trouble was limited to a couple of pubs and walks in the hills! Do tell!

oneofsuesylvesterscheerios · 29/09/2010 19:16

my ex used to work for Centrepoint for a while and the worst areas for heroin addiction in the county were Malvern and Evesham!

oneofsuesylvesterscheerios · 29/09/2010 19:17

but that's not to say this and the OP's point are connected in any way!... just answering the post about malvern not being all twee and green

acebaby · 29/09/2010 20:02

loopy: Looking at oneof's post, our activities were actually quite tame - mainly snogging and (a bit) more in some very long grass fields, and near the railway line. From time to time, we used to escape out of the windows of our boarding house and go into London on the train. And there was a fair amount of alcohol and smoking. Just normal teenage stuff really!

OP: Sorry for the hijack. Malvern College has a great reputation. Perhaps not as one of the most academic schools in the country, but it has always held its own in the league tables and the boys (at least in my day) seemed to have a great time.

loopyloops · 30/09/2010 21:24

Are you from Malvern ace? Or did you go to the College? If you're from here, do I know you?

acebaby · 30/09/2010 21:38

I went to Malvern Girls College, as it was then (Malvern St James now). I don't think I know anyone still living in Malvern. It would great to find a rl friend on MN though [stalker emoticon]

loopyloops · 30/09/2010 21:44

Really? I can't think of anything worse! what if they trawled through and found you slagging them off and recognised themselves there? Not so good.

Mum72 · 04/10/2010 23:10

I have been to the prep school grounds for matches (when my DDs school has played away matches there) and was really impressed with the facilities.

So much so we sent off for the prospectus and info as a consideration for 13plus common entrance. However, the fees are somewhat shocking. The dearest we have seen. At very little under £60,000 per year (before ANY extras) to send our 2 DC there; the prospectus is now sadly in the bin.

There are other schools on a par with Malverns repuation (iMO)available at not such a high cost.

Wifepot · 11/05/2014 09:23

Hi we are considering Malvern College, did you choose it in the end? Any thoughts?

Woed · 14/12/2023 14:29

Hi any of recent experience in Malvern college? Want to send my DC for 6 form?
