What to take for GCSEs?

My ds has basically sorted out his GCSEs.
He is taking triple science, italian, geography and some sort of design and technology because it is an academic subject. He is happy to take Graphics, Resistant materials or any thing to do with designing or building.
Does anyone have any ideas on which would be more useful when it comes to getting into University or later in his life?
Thank you.

What does he want to do at uni (generally, speaking)?

I agree - he as lots of sensible choices already so, for the last one, pick the most enjoyable subject.

Even the most academic child at our school - 10 A's took catering as one option as he liked cooking (and got an A in that too!).

Thank you all for your views. And I absolutely agree with you Pixie. Every option my ds is taking is his choice. He says it is definately Graphics or Resistant materials.
Thank you.

Meant D and T because it is NOT an academic subject.

Definitely. You made the same mistake on the dog thread there. (Thanks all.)
