Would a Just Eat voucher be a useful birthday gift in this part of Edinburgh?

Can anyone tell me if a 'just eat' delivery card would be a good gift for someone in this area?

My sister has a 'big' birthday coming up soon but I know she will be flat out working all through it. We will celebrate and buy a gift to mark the occasion later in the year.

I just thought a night off cooking would help. From being on here/ listening to ppl I know living in the UK I know take aways have gone very expensive. They have gone ridiculous here in Ireland as well but I live on a farm in the middle of no where if I want food delivered I need to do in on Tesco at least 2 days before!

Anyway would there be a nice selection in this area? Hard to know what she'd go for my guess would be chipper or Chinese. There are 3 of them but their child is young.

I know it will be 'what can you afford' but would £20 go a good way? or will I wrangle £5 off a few family members since we can't buy her a pint on her birthday and hopefully send £40

is she the sort of person to order a takeaway when she's flat out busy? Not everyone would consider this to be a treat! You can put her address into just eat to see what's available locally. Delivery catchments will be wider than just that circle.

No she wouldn't order one normally, they've a very tight budget right now and I think it would give her a night off - her DH is a very good cook but he is flat out this time of year too. So I think it would be treat.

I don’t order takeaways cause most places serve UPF shite. Are you sure she wants this? If you can cook well you can cook much better than most takeaways. And you get to eat it hot and not lukewarm. It would go in our bin.

There are places all over Edinburgh who will deliver to EH7. It's right next door to Leith, which is full of takeaways of all descriptions. It is expensive though, and I'll regularly spend £20-25 on a delivery when it's just a starter, main, and side, so for two adults you could be £30-£40 easily.

Totally agree @Solentseeker that’s what I was getting at above. I wouldn’t personally see this as a treat no matter how flat out I was! There’s always time to rustle up something quick.

If she likes a takeaway she’ll have loads of choice in that area - sushi or chippie or Turkish or anything really. But for 2 people you really need at least £40 to make it a true gift - we’d spend double that but our kids eat adult food now.

I would appreciate this if I was flat out busy. Lost of ice cream/desert shops on just eat too so even if they did cook they could get one of these delivered as a treat for pudding?
