Im buying my first home (in aberdeen) and im really grateful to have finally been able to get to this stage in my life. But im going to be stone cold broke 😪
Just wondering what are your best cost of living hacks. Looking for anything from help you can get with eg heating, savings schemes, anything really!!

Matey honestly houses in Aberdeen are cheap as chips, how broke are we talking?!

shop around for best deals on utilities and make sure you review these once a year.
ask family & friends before you sign up to utilities, wifi, TV etc as most offer a referral bonus that benefits you both.
thick curtains and draft insulation to reduce heat loss.
a heated blanket for the winter
sign up to loyalty schemes for the supermarkets.
meal plan and plan for 1 less day than you expect to need to reduce any food waste.

Using electricity at night. Being on an EV tariff our electricity is pretty cheap anyway but it's cheaper at night. Find out when it changes, ours is between 11.30 pm and 5.30 am so we have a delay function on our washing machine and shower before bed at 11.30.
In the winter if you are cooking, providing you have the space, set up the clothes airer in the kitchen, the residual heat will help the clothes dry. If you have a covered area in your garden you can still air dry your clothes in the rain.
