Can I please get some recommendations for a nice lunch out in Edinburgh? Either pub grub or an Italian around the Old Town.

Vittoria for Italian

I can’t think of hat would count as “pub grub” in the area? Plenty of pubs, especially down the grass market, but none spring to mind when I think food. Hopefully someone else will have a better idea.

I was going to suggest Gordon’s Trattoria on the High Street, it’s been there forever, but apparently it’s closed for renovations, possibly a bit too cheap and cheerful for a “nice” lunch anyway, it was a stalwart when I was a student. Mamma’s pizza on the Grassmarket has also been there since the 80’s, reliable pizza. There are a couple of other Italian places down on the Grassmarket too but I haven’t been to their current incarnations. For a nice lunch I would go to Wedgewood on the Cannongate, they do a good fixed price lunch.

Vittorias for italian
agree with wedgewood at lunchtime something a bit more special
whiski bar used to be ok for classic pub food but it’s a while since I ate there.
