Looking for friends in Edinburgh (Retired)

I thought I would give this is a try , though it's quite a bold move. I'm a regulate poster but have name changed.

I've lived in Edinburgh since 2018 , am retired and looking to make new friends. I used to have a very active hobby which was very social , but can no longer do that as I have an injury now which prevents it. That's left a huge hole in my life which hasn't been filled. I have a few friends from another group I attend, and a friend I knew before I moved back. However, I feel I need to meet new people but have somehow lost the drive to be proactive. Edinburgh is notoriously hard to in that respect anyway .

Is there anyone in the same position who might like to meet for coffee ? If so send me a PM and we can see if we have anything in common.

Have you tried U3A at all? I am not retired but have thought if I was this would be a great place to make new friends.

I know you mentioned an injury but these are all designed for older peoe and you might find something of interest.

Many of the cinemas do seniors films during the day with coffee and biscuits whi h are a good way to me people.

I agree with U3A.

If you like cinema, I believe both the Film House and Dominion run film clubs with a chance to watch and chat. It seems they mostly end with coffee chats too.

I'm not retired but am in this group which might be of interest - Scotland's fab women over 50 (there's one with the same name plus "bookgroup" as well) it's a Facebook group that seems popular - they arrange meet ups.

Do you like to sing? Lots of choirs in Edinburgh.

Unfortunately the film house one no longer exists

Thanks. I had a look but can only find the book group under that name.

Here's a shot of what it looks like. There are walking groups too (Edinburgh based) not sure if your injury allows for that. The women's institute too.

Have you thought of Meetup? So many activities to join.
