How long does shortlisting take for council and university admin jobs?

I’m desperately looking for part time work and have applied to a number of council and uni admin jobs. I got a rejection for one but have not heard back from the rest. It’s now been about two weeks since closing date. Is shortlisting for such roles very slow? Feeling the wait is killing me 😅 not sure if I am being ghosted or not!

There is no simple answer to this question. It could be days or weeks depending on numerous factors.

It can seriously take forever, I remember one job with the council where shortlisting took 6 weeks, another where it was longer. If you’ve applied through myjobscotland you will eventually get a response but don’t assume you’ve not been shortlisted, it can really take a while.

@Jellycatspyjamas thanks! Didn’t know it can take so long

I work for a university and will always shortlist quite quickly but the whole of the interview panel has to undertake this task so if someone is off or on holiday then it could take a while. Good luck!
