Likelihood of a successful placement request to Linlithgow Academy living in Bo'ness?

This is just musing really, but my eldest is going into primary 6 and we are thinking about high school options.

We like where we live just now but the high schools nearby are not well rated. I wish we had picked Linlithgow for the high school but it wasn't on our radar all those years ago when we moved.

I wondered whether or not it was likely that a high school placement request to Linlithgow Academy was likely to be successful, from a family living in Bo'Ness? Or is LA oversubscribed already due to its rating in the league table?

I should be clear, we don't live in either location at the moment, just mulling things over (and some of the houses for sale in Bo'Ness are absolutely incredible!)

Thanks

Go back a few years and Linlithgow Academy was over subscribed, but since they opened the new high schools in Winchburgh the roll is dropping - this last year S6 was I think the biggest year in the school, which obviously isn't normal! So there's capacity, and people do get in on placing requests, but if you're in Bo'ness you're in a different council area so that might make a difference. I've not heard in recent years of any placing requests being denied but the people I know have had kids in feeder primaries rather than being in the situation you're imagining. If you were already in Bo'ness I'd say go for it and see what happens. Whether I'd move to Bo'ness with that as the plan I'm not sure. Depends what you make of the other options I guess (and I know nothing about the Bo'ness schools so can't comment).
