2026 SQA exams - is there a thread?

I can't see a thread so am starting it!

Last year my DS went through a mix of Hs and AH in S6 and now is finishing first year of uni.

It's now the middle child's turn - she's sitting six Highers in S5, and they're all packed in over about thirteen days! She's totally finished by the 11th.

Can't believe they've come round so fast.

Found this thread just in time! Highers results in about an hour...... Dd asleep I think. Have been told not to wake her until after 8.15

Itsnowisntit · 04/08/2026 07:14

Been awake since about 4.20 and staring at the clock waiting for 8am.
DS need to get BBB for his first choice uni.

Fingers crossed to everyone!

LaughingLemur · 04/08/2026 07:15

Nervously waiting for Highers results here too. Time is going slowly this morning!

StrictlyCoffee · 04/08/2026 07:18

This is the first year I’ve slept the night before results, my son has got an unconditional place at college but ideally I’d like his s6 not to have been a complete waste of time!

Goof luck everyone.

It really is the longest day, and DH just does not share my anxiety. I’ve requested to wfh tomorrow to be here whatever the outcome but he thinks I’m overreacting

This is the first year I’ve not either wfh or taken a day’s leave!

I also had a bad dream about a disappointing set of results.

She's wide awake, I can hear her making a coffee. She's got a nervous hour ahead of her!

Haha so did I! If she’s doing 6 highers she must be nailed on for pretty good results though no? Although it’s still anxiety inducing until you know!

sociableintrovert123 · 04/08/2026 07:26

I hardly slept last night and I didn’t think I was too worried! Obviously I’m subconsciously stressed. DS is away with school until next week so I really hope his results make him happy while he’s away from home. He worked hard anyway.

Yes, realistically unless something catastrophic has happened, she's going to have done pretty well. She's predicted six As. I think that makes it harder though - the pressure must be so intense. She knows we're proud whatever happens.

Last year it was her brother getting his S6 results (and his uni place was riding on the results) and her N5s. This year it's her Highers. Next year will be her S6 results and our other DD's N5s. When will it end?!?!

I also have the stress of three exam classes' worth of results coming out today too. What a stressy day.

I remember it well, my eldest was predicted 5 As and he did get them, but you don’t know until you know! This is my last results day,, had this joy since 2022 😂 as I’ve only got 2 kids

We had this last year - DD was away in Ireland with friends when the results came in. And then neither of them spoke about it for fear of upsetting the other!

Do you think they'll share results and chat about it, or will he stay tight-lipped until he's home?

Morning, we are waiting on Nat 5’s this morning. Eldest child and Im more nervous than her. She’s still sleeping

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/08/2026 07:49

Ha, I wasn’t the only one with a terrible night’s sleep. I’ve taken the day off to be here (uni is exam result dependent). DS told me he’s not leaving his room before 8am.

poodlemum01 · 04/08/2026 07:58

good luck to everyone, my dd is past exams now but still bitter about her 2024 H History result which impacted her UCAS offers. Didn't get her first choice.

summeronthehorizon · 04/08/2026 08:00

As a first timer - should they come in quite quickly?

In my experience, between 8 on the dot and about 20 past. But I think sometimes they are a bit later. DS was at a party last night ... not sure if he's awake yet.

sociableintrovert123 · 04/08/2026 08:05

@YouBelongWithMe no I think they will all chat about it. There’s about 80 of them away in South Africa and everyone there will get their results (hopefully if there’s WiFi). I think the teachers will be geared up for it.

Willowback · 04/08/2026 08:05

Is anyone else debating with themselves about waking them up?

I think I'm going to go in at ten past ...

2026onwardsandup · 04/08/2026 08:07

Fingers crossed to everyone . Nothing here yet . Waiting on Highers and AHs to get into uni .
Third time for me - doesn’t get any easier !

summeronthehorizon · 04/08/2026 08:12

They came at 8 in the dot. She’s happy

Gcn · 04/08/2026 08:13

3As, a B and a C. She's disappointed with the C.

Chocolateforbreakfasttoday · 04/08/2026 08:22

Absolutely nothing here so far. Was 8.10 last year. The wait is killing DD

Willowback · 04/08/2026 08:24

Nothing here either

Itsnowisntit · 04/08/2026 08:33

3 A’s for his AH so got his first choice for Uni. Very happy and relieved. Good luck to those still waiting.

YouBelongWithMe · 04/08/2026 08:35

She got the text at 8.03am.

Six As at Higher.

The household is giddy!

Good luck to all still waiting!
