2026 SQA exams - is there a thread?

I can't see a thread so am starting it!

Last year my DS went through a mix of Hs and AH in S6 and now is finishing first year of uni.

It's now the middle child's turn - she's sitting six Highers in S5, and they're all packed in over about thirteen days! She's totally finished by the 11th.

Can't believe they've come round so fast.

@TartanMammy Yes I did say I was just venting. Not to derail the thread, but I was brought up to be considerate of neighbours and let them know if something disruptive was going to be happening. These neighbours are the opposite of that.

Good luck to everyone doing Art and Design this morning and any exams this afternoon. Last one for DD.

RausageSoul · 26/05/2026 11:09

Good luck for Art and Design today. thankfully for her, there’s been a lot of time since the last exam (history) for DD to revise sensibly for this without losing momentum thankfully and then we are done!

Scary stuff and a long wait to results day!

Issy422 · 26/05/2026 11:15

DD said H Art was ok, but she wasn't happy with the like options for each piece.

All I’ve heard is ‘The last one was a bit bad but not too awful’ but she’s with friends and I’m obviously pestering.

MrsMattSantos · 28/05/2026 15:37

last exam is done, DD is happy. It was Nat 5 Italian for her today and was apparently a good paper.
Pleased for her as we had a struggle to keep her doing Italian - which is what she wants to do at uni - but we got there in the end

InsertUsernameHere · 28/05/2026 17:56

Finished here too (Higher Mandarin). Glad the weather is glorious, so a few days to enjoy before back to school on Monday.

Issy422 · 28/05/2026 20:29

Glad the final exams are going well. Feel sorry for those doing ESOL, Philosophy and Latin who don't get a break before school restarts.

As open days are now starting in earnest, I've started a University entry 2027 thread. Hope to see some of you over there, whether you've been through it this year and have tips or you have DC applying for 2027.

It seems a bit early, but with exams almost over and open days starting, I thought I'd start a thread for 2027 university entry. Join us whether you a...

I have twins doing Highers this year. Twin 2 had his first on pretty much the first day of exams (geography) and finished today with Philosophy. He says it went well - though he only realised at the last minute that I'd only put the time for paper 2 on the calendar and he had to fly out to get there on time for paper 1. Thankfully he made it and thinks it went well. Celebrations tonight, back to start S6 on Monday!

Have double checked again and the results come out tomorrow from 8am by text and or email for those that signed up for this . With certificates coming out in the post .
Is there a separate thread for the results ?

I’ve not seen another thread! Last year DD got the email at 8.06 (Nat 5) with the text shortly after and the cert in the post.

Hoping everyone manages to sleep tonight. We’re definitely anxious, still can’t shake the poor prelim results, but lots of revision was done and can’t fault effort, but feeling the pressure and hoping a maths resit isn’t in order

Chocolateforbreakfasttoday · Yesterday 15:42

Good luck to all the young people waiting for results. There is a lot of anxiety in our house today. Exams felt like a very mixed bag. DD worked incredibly hard but I suspect she will not get the grades she’s secretly hoping for. However, her effort and application across the board could not be faulted or questioned and I am very proud of all she has overcome health wise to sit the exams. It’s hard when they are not in a place to recognise that themselves.

LoopyGremlin · Yesterday 15:42

Stress building here. DS has not signed up for a text or email so reliant on the post 🙄 Maths is the one he is worried about.

stonkytonk11 · Yesterday 16:02

Does anyone know if the kids had to sign up to Qualifications Scotland for the text messages to come through or if they already signed up with SQA in the past it will automatically come through without having to sign up to again?

If they signed up last year they don’t need to sign up again.

It’s come round quickly! Good luck all

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · Yesterday 16:39

Today is the LONGEST day. Waiting for AH results, and for a competitive course down south, so needs specific results. Holding an unconditional offer as insurance, but really really wants the first course.

Fingers crossed everyone’s YP get the results they are hoping for.

RausageSoul · Yesterday 16:44

It really is the longest day, and DH just does not share my anxiety. I’ve requested to wfh tomorrow to be here whatever the outcome but he thinks I’m overreacting

Thanks, that’s good to know. I just wondered since it was a new organisation this year

Meridas · Yesterday 18:18

My DC hasn't signed up for text or email and our post doesn't arrive till late pm so tomorrow will be a long day! Anxiety building for H results.

MrsMattSantos · Yesterday 18:56

DD has signed up for emails - but says she wants to wait for her results in the post. which is fine, but we don’t usually get our mail till 11.30/12 so not only will it be a long night, it could be a very long morning too…

YouBelongWithMe · Yesterday 23:07

My DD genuinely, literally FORGOT about the whole thing.

I heard her friends ask her via video call if she wanted to plan something nice for Tuesday so they could look forward to the day and also have space to celebrate/commiserate. She was utterly baffled - had no clue what they were referring to. At least it's proof she's embraced her summer freedom 🤣

She sat six Highers in S5 and is hoping to secure the grades for unconditionals down the line, as well as cement in a breezy, fun S6.

I feel quietly confident for her, but scared of saying too much in case something disastrous has happened.

She's signed up for the text, she thinks. She got one last year and assumes it rolls over...?!?

Good luck to all your children tomorrow!

My (asd) S5 took NPAs and has had the certs already, so we’re only awaiting her English. This is her second attempt to pass. She has been predicted to fail :/ and tbh we are all ok about it, it’s just not her thing, but managing the disappointment when there’s only one result expected will be tricky!

The NPAs this year have been perfect for her.

Well done to them for passing everything else so far! It’s a horrible wait and you’re trying to simultaneously manage hope and potential disappointment. Nothing can be done now, those results are counted and printed. DD definitely had a huge drop in confidence before bed there and my heart hurts for her.

I hope some sleep is had tonight for everyone

Sixzld · Today 00:00

@RausageSoul thank you. As a result we aren’t feeling as anxious as last year , but I empathise with everyone’s feelings about tomorrow! It’s no fun!

Wishing your DD all the best, I hope to return tomorrow and see lots of excitement here!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · Today 05:05

Gah, I am awake at 5am. Just had an awful dream that DS had failed and turned into an absolute horror about it. Have been trying to get back to sleep for an hour.

YouBelongWithMe · Today 06:57

I also had a bad dream about a disappointing set of results.

She's wide awake, I can hear her making a coffee. She's got a nervous hour ahead of her!
