Higher music performance day. DD ill. What happens if she can't sing?

DD has just left for school with a really sore throat, with accompanying horrid taste in her mouth, that she's had since Saturday. Seems like the start of a cold. She's meant to be singing in her Higher music performance exam this morning. What happens if she can't sing?

Sincerely hoping that they don't base her mark on only the second instrument as it's much weaker than the vocal (usually). Could she travel to another school to do her exam once she's better, assuming her school isn't the last to be assessed?

She had to sing, but it went really badly. Anyone know if her illness will be taken into account?

I don't know anything about the process but I would suggest you get some medical evidence that your DD has a throat inflammation on this date in case you need it later on; go and see the doctor so it's on record. Hopefully someone knowledgeable will see your post and reply more helpfully.

Sorry your DD is ill - I've got this wretched sore throat thing myself and it's awful, can't get rid of it.

There are procedures for this (not specifically for Music performance exams but I'd assume this is covered). The schools needs to pursue this.

My friends daughter has an arm injury so is doing her higher music practical with the advanced higher assessment, which is later in the year, maybe April/ may.

Does she not have a prelim she can fall back on?

Inform the school tomorrow. Get a medical appointment tomorrow as well.
