Parking at PRI

I have an upcoming outpatient procedure at PRI, I’ve not been there before (Ninewells or our local hospital are the usual as we are well over an hour away from PRI) and the letter makes it sound like parking might be a problem for us.

The appointment is at 8.40am so is it likely to be ok to park at that time or would we be better getting a bus? DH and I are staying at the Travelodge at the Broxden park and ride the night before so we would just leave the car there if we did get the bus. DH would be driving so if we struggled to park he could at the very least drop me off so I wouldn’t be late to the appointment but he wants to be with me as much as possible.

My other concern is that the procedure is a hysteroscopy so I don’t know if a bus would be uncomfortable afterwards and if the results aren’t good then I wouldn’t want to have to deal with public transport if I was upset.

I’m probably overthinking it all but I’m already really worried about the procedure and potential diagnosis options as it is so would appreciate knowledge from those who are more in the know.

Parking at PRI is a nightmare. Avoid going by car if at all possible .

Have been to PRI a couple of times and yes parking can be tricky. Did always manage to get a space but did have to drop dh and then drive around the car parks for a little bit.

Parking is indeed a nightmare. You might get a space but it could take a while. What about bus there and taxi back to hotel? PRI to Broxden is only 5-10 minutes in a car, mostly a quick straight road outside rush hour.

I was there recently and arrived early. My appointment was at 10am but I got there about 8.15 and parked easily. Then went and sat in the cafe. If you can, just get there really early.

Thanks everyone, I hadn’t even considered a taxi so I’ll discuss that with DH.

@Cismyfatarse- we were thinking it might be ok if we were nice and early so good to hear it worked for you. We’d considered grabbing a McDs breakfast then heading along really early and eating it in the car once we found a spot.

It’s still over a week away so we have plenty of time to work out what we’d prefer. I also don’t necessarily want DH to drive if it ends up being bad news so maybe bus in, taxi (or bus if I feel ok) back is the best option for every possible situation.

I have never had an issue parking at PRI in the car parks accessed from Jeanfield. I would imagine if you are there early parking should be ok. If not there are side streets you can park on if it’s to drop off. At 08.40 I wouldn’t be overly concerned.

I did Ninewells today and that was indeed fecking awful for parking. Temporary.

Just wanted to update that my appointment was this morning and we had absolutely no issue with parking. Got there around 8.20 and there were lots of spaces. We left just over 2 hours later and there were still quite a few then although it was getting busier so I’m glad of such an early appointment time now. Thank you to everyone who helped as I know my anxiety would have been in overdrive panicking about it on the way.

I’m also glad we drove as I was a little sore afterwards and it might not be great news (got to wait for biopsy results as part of it) so I was able to just listen to the radio and try not to overthink everything on our way back.
