Unconditional/Conditional and University Accommodation

My DC has a conditional from his first choice and an unconditional from his second choice of university.

This will mean he has to wait until August to organise accommodation. Does anyone have experience of applying for accommodation after the August results? If so, how did it go? Did they manage to get university accommodation easily?

We're in the same situation. Conditional for Glasgow first choice, unconditional for Edinburgh insurance. For Glasgow you can apply for accommodation if you firm as your first choice even if it's conditional and not wait for results day. I think for Edinburgh you can apply even if it's insurance choice but the options won't be great (like a shared room?). We live in Edinburgh so she'll probably stay at home if she doesn't meet her conditions. I don't want to think about it! Interested in what others have done.
