I see Stuart Hogg has been stripped of his MBE.

I'm very pleased. I still haven't recovered from the shock of finding out what he is really like. Such a disappointment.
Absolutely disgraceful treatment of his wife.

It annoys me that apparently everyone knew what he was like, all the people he worked with, all the rugby world. But he won matches to it as kept quiet, even though apparently no one liked him.

How they could cover it up, pay him what they paid him, make him a figurehead of Scottish rugby etc… and they knew what he was like the whole time. It doesn’t sit right.

I absolutely agree @Trusttheawesomeness

I feel really quite betrayed by Scottish Rugby by their cover up.

I used to be quite a rugby fan - a season ticket holder at Glasgow Warriors and I thought Hogg was great.
But I was so disgusted with the Hogg business. and also the Ulster rape trial I don't bother with rugby at all now

I was warriors season ticket holder too. Then a few years ago they had a player accused of beating his girlfriend, and he was so clearly guilty. It was going through court etc but they continued having him from and centre. Big posters, used for fan events as a big attraction. They didn’t even try to shuffle him to the back and they didn’t issue any statements in support of women, or against domestic abuse or even pretend to care. There hand was forced when he was found guilty and they finally got rid of him but they held on as long as they could, completely ignoring what he had done. I’ve not been to a game since.

sorry - not good guilty! He pleaded guilty. I don’t think he ever denied it, which made it so much worse that the club stood behind him and kept him out there as a star.

That's absolutely sickening @Trusttheawesomeness

I take it this is the player you were talking about @Trusttheawesomeness ?

It beggars belief that his girl friend was verbally abused by the Rugby community despite him pleading guilty.

Rufus McLean: Domestic abuse rugby union player given community sentence

Rufus McLean admitted abusing girlfriend Cara Haston, whose family said she received verbal abuse from the rugby community.

Yup. He’s at another club now I believe. So still out there playing rugby, and these teams all hang around in the pitch to sign stuff for kids at the end of matches, standing there as role models etc. And he’s still doing the job. Out in Texas or something, where rugby isn’t as big but I think that’s worse because he’s one of the guys they’re using to try and make rugby bigger in the U.S.

Edited

Very similar to the Ulster rape accused - Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding - who are still playing rugby but over in France.

I know they weren't found guilty but I certainly believed the rape victim and I think it was a travesty of justice. The details about the attitudes of the Ulster players towards women that came out in that trial were sickening.

It's disgusting what people will turn a blind eye to to suit themselves. And sometimes to stick the knife in further.

I'm glad for hogg's ex wife though that people already knew what he was like, that would be one less aftermath of his abuse for her to live with.

So many of us have/had abusers who were "great guys, would do anything for anyone" and people still believe the lies they told to make themselves look good and us look bad, despite evidence to the contrary.

I remember the day I heard about Hogg. As a rugby fan, I hadn’t heard any whispers prior. It was shocking. We’ve met him, my son loves rugby because of him. He looked up to him.
