Huh? Do you not remember them proposing to cut the bottoms off all the doors in schools? And NS vehemently defending that policy? They were an utter joke if you paid attention to what they were actually doing rather than what she was saying they were doing.

"Do you not remember them proposing to cut the bottoms off all the doors in schools?"

What was going to be the benefit of this? Ventilation? The mind boggles.

Too thick to realise that simply wedging a door open would be easier, cheaper and more effective. That’s how thick these people are.

It was “common sense” according to Sturgeon. 🙈🙈🙈. Cannot believe no one pointed out that propping them open would be a far better idea.

'Common sense' to cut classroom doors to curb Covid

This whole situation - and the wider shitshow of how Scotland is run - is, I’m sad to say, a reflection on the calibre of people who have landed jobs in Holyrood. Got worse after 2014 when anyone - regardless of competence - could pin on an SNP badge and get elected to a job paying way beyond their capabilities or what they could hope to earn in the real world.

Holyrood is a binfire.

TheDameHelenShiteingMirren · 19/02/2026 08:39

And it's not losing any heat no matter how much binjuice they spaff at it.

This is what really annoys me. Nobody with much intelligence would stand up for Indy as they know how deeply damaging it would be for the lives of the people of Scotland. So we have an entire political party of sub average intelligence- and they are inc charge, voted in by people who hate England. It’s like people living in deprived areas voting for Brexit because they hated foreigners, not realising how bad their lives would be after.

But SNP will get in power again and we’ll be stuck with shocking governance. With the money they have to run the country we could be very successful. It might even make Indy a better prospect. But we’ve got idiots in charge so the whole country is a bin fire.

@Scramado it gives me rage watching these absolute noddies fuck things up.

I mean Humza Yusuf FFS. Dishonourable mentions for Constance, Matheson, Gray….the list goes on and fucking on.

I think this also applies to Reform.

I agree. Interesting, if depressing, to see that shower of fecklessness also gaining traction in Scotland…

Scramado · 19/02/2026 09:06

Greens too. Each and every one of them an idiot.

Totally agree. I’d get rid of it

@WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing @Scramado

I have often seen threads on here about the calibre of the likes of SNP, Reform and Greens. I would have thought this would be a golden opportunity for thousands of Mumsnet 'sleeper' candidates to infiltrate the ranks of the wannabe MPs and SNPs. Once elected they could cast off their disguises and reveal themselves to be sane and responsible.

Fantasy I know!! Sadly I think people prefer to moan.

SirChenjins · 19/02/2026 09:21

Much as the thought of Reform fills me with horror, there's also a part of me that looks forward to seeing the madness of the SNP and Greens being challenged in this way. I don't imagine Reform will make much headway in terms of seats, but I think the vote share will increase and it will be fun watching the idiots at the tartan helm squirm.

I just don’t have the energy to stand, tbh, though I do think about it sometimes!

It's looking more and more deliberate with everything they say and do.

TheGoddessAthena · 19/02/2026 10:43

It's not just that they are poor quality candidates/politicians. It's that they have won a golden ticket into the Scottish parliament and are earning so much more than they could in a "proper job". Most of them have never done anything other than politics and if they have, it's been public sector work, or working as assistants to other MPs. All that matters is unflinching loyalty to the cause and never questioning your boss, whether you actually are any good at your job doesn't matter. Like Angela Constance, Humza Yousless, John Swinney, Margaret Ferrier.

Then you have people like Ross Greer who has NEVER had a job of any sort as he went straight from school to uni and dropped out after 5 minutes to be a "politician". He's now being paid £75k as a MSP (our money, remember) he could never ever hope to earn that sort of money anywhere else. So they all protect each other.

100% had forgotten about Greer and Ferrier. Throwing Mhairi Black and her student politics into that category also. Lauded for being the youngest MP. Utterly over promoted, embarrassing and work shy. The whole faux ned thing was toe curling.
