A physical embodiment of how meek the people of Edinburgh now are

Huh?

Zooeymither · 09/01/2026 22:35

Are you talking about the poo emoji building?

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 09/01/2026 22:38

It’s awful. A complete eyesore. Cannot believe it got planning permission.

Alltheyellowbirds · 09/01/2026 22:38

You’re a bit late to this debate, it was finished four years ago.

I thought I’d hate it from the plans but actually it looks great.

EnterQueene · 09/01/2026 22:40

It looks like a shite - but that has long been remarked on so why raise it now?

Pollqueen · 09/01/2026 22:41

I used to love a walnut whip. Do they still make them? 🤔

M&S do a copy. 😊

DanaScullysLegoHair · 09/01/2026 22:44

I'm visiting Edinburgh shortly, has it dropped yet?

Pavementworrier · 09/01/2026 22:55

Someone on another thread just called it the walnut whip

It's a rectal leaving

It is known locally as the Golden Turd. Or at least it was at the time, haven’t heard anyone mention it for years. Why are we talking about it now? Has something happened?

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/01/2026 23:14

I like it better than I thought I would when I first heard about it. I think it looks ok in the ‘flesh’.

If you're talking about the St James' Centre, that's old news.

I’m the same. All the mock-ups beforehand made it look much more turd-like than it actually turned out to be. Once built it was just a hitel with a copper spiral on top - complete anticlimax after all the drama.

LighthouseLED · 09/01/2026 23:22

Wasn’t this news about 5 years ago? Have we gone back in time?

Alltheyellowbirds · 09/01/2026 23:23

Come on OP, put us out of our misery. Why are we talking about this now?

Hapagirl48 · 10/01/2026 09:00

My mum who is not from Edinburgh forgot what it was called, got into a taxi and asked him to take her to the “big poo”. He knew exactly what she was talking about 😂. I actually don’t mind what it looks like now. It kind of blends in.

That’s still its name in our house.

I think if they had never shown the concept art and it had arrived without preamble, I would probably like it but once you’ve seen the 💩 you can’t unsee it

Walnut whip? Turd? Poo?

You are all wrong. It's a jobby! 😁

In my first year of teaching, I was forced to use the only novel left in the cupboard for my S3 class.

I shall never forgive:
