I had been so looking forward to this!
Unfortunately, it fell flat and was so disappointing.
There was no real storyline and no spark in dialogue or between the characters this time.
Hopefully the 2026 stage show will be better for those who go to see ir.

I think it was better without the newer characters and Cathy didn’t seem quite such a bitch in the earlier series.

Still enjoyed it though.

I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as I expected to be honest.

Firefightress1 · 27/12/2025 15:59

We just watched it today as its a delayed christmas day for us. I thought it was ok but I wasnt howling with laughter like before. We watched amandaland afterwards and I thought that was so much better.
Shame as we rewatch the episodes of TDD over and over.

NormalAuntFanny · 27/12/2025 16:12

It was really only half an episode I'd say.

Plus it had all the bad bits about the last couple of seasons in spades, just rehashing horrible Cathy, doormat Beth and wow their son is gay! Cue hilarity.

TartanMammy · 28/12/2025 00:24

I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as previous episodes.

The set has changed and I found that really distracting, but that could just be me that hyper-focuses on small details like that.

TartanMammy · 28/12/2025 00:28

I guess the passing of Simon Carlyle will have had an impact on the style and script. It was missing his spark and humour.

Sassymabel · 28/12/2025 00:46

Has anyone read nobody’s girl?
has she changed her children’s names in the book? They are listed as Christian, Noah and Emily online but in the book she calls them Alex, Tyler and Ellie?

1reason · 28/12/2025 15:49

Yeah, the death of Simon Carlyle has obviously impacted greatly on this script.
Thanks for replies. Mixed response to it just like my own family and friends.
I will just treasure the existing series and Christmas specials on Iplayer! No plans to go see Glasgow 2026 shows.

Think you are on the wrong thread?
This is about Scottish comedy Two Doors Down.

I really enjoyed it, looking forward to the stageshow

TheChosenTwo · 28/12/2025 15:55

No, I posted on another thread about it saying that I felt the characters had been told to slow down their speaking parts, it lacked Christine’s witty quick remarks and Cathy’s too. They just sounded a bit stilted. The first few minutes were quite promising but it landed like a damp squib for me.

Clockyclockz · 28/12/2025 15:58

I enjoyed it but think it’s a show that works better when you watch a few in a row.

Groovee · 28/12/2025 18:34

The last bit with Colin then Alan had me howling…. We will never see the next part 😢
