Glasgow steakhouse recommendations

I’m thinking of getting ds(21) and his gf(20) vouchers for a meal out in Glasgow. They both really like a nice steak. Any recommendations for a good steakhouse, suitable for their age, central as they’ll be going in on the train.

ds took her to porter and rye a few months back for her birthday and they both really enjoyed it, but with both being students it’s not something they can do often.

Miller and carter is great.

Blanketpolicy · 13/12/2025 22:18

Oh and should say ideally somewhere they can book at short notice (as the both don’t get their PT weekend shifts until the weekend before), think they tried miller and Carter before but couldn’t get a table.

I might be looking for the impossible 🤦🏻‍♀️

Anchor Line? But I'd probably get the train through to Edinburgh to Hawksmoor (and I say that as someone who doesn't like going Edinburgh if I can help it!)

The best (& most reasonable!) steak house in Glasgow

Chateau X in Finnieston, staff were lovely and the food was good. We went on a steak frites night

Meat joint is great.

butcher shop or the Spanish butcher are excellent. Spanish butcher is more central.

I wouldn’t recommend miller and Carter over any of the above.

FortyFacedFuckers · 13/12/2025 23:29

Second the Spanish butcher

Personally im not keen on Miller and carter its absolutely fine dont get me
wrong, but for the money id rather not eat in a chain. Id highly recommend Tiffney as my favourite steakhouse in Glasgow. Its in the west end but less than 10mins in a taxi from central station.

rookiemere · 14/12/2025 08:20

Miller and Carter is normally fine to book a couple of days before.

If you're on Facebook, have a look at Glasgow's Good Food Group. Some great recommendations on there

I had the best steak of my entire life in Gamba in Glasgow, food was amazing and staff were fabulous

Wowitswindy · 14/12/2025 21:37

Gost on Bothwell Street does really great steaks but rather pricey perhaps.

My mouth is watering looking at all these menus this morning! Lots to choose from, thank you 🩷

I was at miller and carter last week and I was so disappointed steak was tasteless chips were cold and the onion loaf was so hard I couldn't cut through it plus a glass of merlot was £12.50
the only thing that was nice was the coffee flavoured cocktail, would not recommend

Elizabeth23e · 15/12/2025 18:55

Hello
im new here

Ladyymuck · 15/12/2025 19:04

I third the Spanish butcher, the steak was delicious

CombatBarbie · 15/12/2025 19:19

We had an amazing steak meal in Guacho.

JackJarvisEsq · 16/12/2025 21:32

Spanish butcher is fab but since they are young I’d also recommend Mini Grill as it’s got nice places around it for drinks

Second Mini Grill. Went for DS birthday (19) and it was so good!
