I’m wary of double glazing rip off merchants . We need to replace 3 aged windows and get a new front door. Happy to pay for quality and reliability and would prefer to use a local firm. Anyone got any recommendations?

Viewforth, they’re not cheap but they’re excellent quality and great customer service.

I've just had a bay window and a single window replaced by illingworth brothers. I'd used them in 2017 and the windows are great.
They are cheaper than viewforth but very happy with quality. Had the work done just last week.

We used Trinity Glazing to overhaul our sashes and replace the glass with double glazed. We were really happy and the refurbished windows were fantastic. They did it all from inside, and so we didn't need scaffolding (first floor flat in Marchmont).

My only problem was that the painting was arranged separately- which was a pain because we weren't living there at the time. It was all ok in the end, but irritating.

Theresa guy called Kenny Fletcher who is on the Next Door Edinburgh pages. I would avoid them.

We used SRJ from Dunfermline although we are East Lothian. They built a porch for us along with window and door nothing too much trouble. I also think they have offers on just now. Would definitely use them again.

We used SRJ many years ago and they were great, glad to hear they’re still in business.

We have all our windows and back door being done soon. Went with Bryant and Cairns - they’ve done half the estate and no complaints.

We had ours done by Celsius Windows. Very happy and a lot cheaper than some of the quotes we had from bigger firms.

Very rude staff in the office though.

Very rude staff in the office though.

I only dealt with them over email as it was still during lockdown, the fitters were lovely.

Very rude staff in the office though.

I had a similar experience with one of the office guys.

We used Edinburgh Glass earlier this year. Quote was around £1000 cheaper than Sidey, fitters really friendly and tidy.

Contact Window Advice Centre. They send out a surveyor to measure up the job and they then put it out to tender. You then choose which company to go with and you pay a deposit before the work is done. Once the job is finished WAC come back out to inspect it and only when they are satisfied with it do you pay the balance. We have used them twice with no problems.
