I mean, it's sort of their raison d'etre, banging on about independence and it does resonate with some of their fans who believe that should Scotland separate, we'd all be loads richer. They do appear somewhat confused though - a majority in parliament is a mandate, the biggest number of MSPs is a mandate, a vote for "pro-indy" parties is a mandate.... Anyone would think they were either making it up as they go along, or hedging their bets. Are we supposed to forget all about the incompetence, the failing NHS and education, the scandals and all the other fuck ups? So if you don't want to separate, don't vote SNP or Green in May.

As I understand it, energy and its infrastructure is retained by the union but we have the energy consent unit at holyrood who make the ultimate decision on infrastructure energy projects in Scotland rather than the local council area or Westminster.

any change in environment is often not wanted by local populations and nimbys, and the building of solar and wind farms and super pylons in rural Scotland has been heavily criticised and drawn concerns from many people who live on the doorstep of these applications and those who are tourist or daytrippers.

objections often given are that Scotland with its lower population and lower energy need is being being used and ruined to fulfill the needs of others: all the energy is going freely to England (or the Scottish central belt, or the next town or the next village...) and we are being decimated.

There is much support for this thinking, especially for the energy going to England and it’s a regularly whispered strap line.
nationalists and the SNP administration are silent on these concerns.

Why are they not openly objecting to this belief that the Scottish countryside is being ruined? From their silence they must agree with this energy expansion.

Private companies are. The same as who own most of the oil. But we have also agreed to buy energy from wind at a much higher cost than other forms of energy and to pay companies to not produce energy when it is not needed. Wind cannot respond to demand in the same way nuclear or gas power does so we cannot rely on wind alone.

Plus the SNP hugely undersold the last lot of wind licences. And one company was found to have made a £30k donation to the SNP just after the government rushed through licences for them.

Why would they launder everyone else's money and not launder their own?

Brexit was about protecting COL from new banking regulations that wouldnt let them get away with what you do.
