Hi any tips on finding a 2 bed flat for 2 x post grad girls - been applying to everything online as estate agents tell us to - looking in a wide range of areas - west end partick shawlands dennistoun etc. Have both rented before elsewhere but are both working on placements so hard to get to glasgow and view - friend etc viewing for us. Generally everything we are viewing we are applying for but not having much luck and due to start uni in 2 weeks - can commute for a bit but its a long commute. Any tip much appreciated.

Same problem here in Edinburgh. Apparently so many landlords left the private rental market since the rent controls were brought in it’s getting nearly impossible to find a rental property.

It might improve after September when last years post grads leave (and maybe a few others drop out). Have they tried Govan/Cessnock/Ibrox.

That's what my DD is hoping for in Edinburgh (job not student but since she needs to move after 12 months unfurnished not really feasible and doubt the HAs would take her). She will commute for a bit as all she can afford is a 8 bed share with 7 randomners which she doesn't fancy. Struggling with spareroom as most want a student or dont want someone working from home any days (or have cats).

Yeah daughter has been in london on a placement they seem to have loads of companies do house shares for professionals down there found somewhere no problem and it worked well. Managed to drive through and get a couple of extra viewings yesterday so fingers crossed on those apparently landlords decide lords know what they deiced on agents tell me they look at all applications and go from there.

Update after doing groundwork on Monday been offered a flat only for me to be turned down as guarantor. We are trying again for grandfather to be guarantor as his financial situation is very good. Fingers crossed - stressful not much time left. Other option I think might be to pay 6 months rent in advance and hope they are happy with that.
