Sturgeon's book

Anyone rushing to buy it? To read such startling revelations that she is attracted to women as well as men? (Must be tricky seeing as she can't define what a woman is).

She might move to London because she's finding Scotland too suffocating.

Love it. Queen of the small minds finds small minds off-putting.

The book is really embarrassingly badly written for a supposedly educated woman.

This. Scotland too small to hold her. Really, what a piece of work

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 18/08/2025 19:31

Yikes. Either sturgeon lied under oath or she's telling porkies in her book. Busted. 😬

I can’t read it. What does it say?

What tangled webs we weave when first we practice to deceive.

This is really worth a read...

The fact the SNP considered it standard protocol to delete their WhatsApp messages it the whole point! 🤦‍♀️

Err no.

They were advised to be doing this by Civil Service.

As I posted on another forum, don't lose sight of the fact Ms Sturgeon is still a serving MSP and will be until May, when she has said she is stepping down.

She is being paid £74,500 a year to represent the people of Glasgow southside. Representing those people does not include giving self-promoting interviews to the media, slagging off Alex Salmond, writing books, fannying around at the Festival and selling tickets for "a night with Sturgeon" events.

Parliament is in summer recess, so short of holding 24/7 open doors constituency drop-ins, I'm not sure what else she should be doing.

Unless, of course, you don't believe politicians should have any annual leave whatsoever.

Scottish government went on recess on 28 June.

Sturgeon's book published 14th August and she was heavily promoting it the week before that.

She's some woman, researching and writing her book, getting it edited, printed, signed off by legal, artwork done etc etc in 6 weeks. 🙄

So she was "heavily promoting" her book the week of 7th August... while parliament was in recess.

God, what a cow eh?

Also bloody hilarious that you think the BBC introducing her as a "former politician" is a stick to beat her with.

KassandraOfSparta · 26/08/2025 15:12

I’m not sure what your point is - she found the time to write the bloody thing while she was employed to do her day job.

The point is that politicians find plenty time to do all sorts of things while being "employed to do their day jobs", so NS is in no way unique in that regard. It's just amusing that you apparently have a massive cob on about the fact she's found the time to do something other than MSP'ing... while she's essentially on annual leave.

I find it fascinating that probably the most successful woman in Britain this century is treated with such derision on this website.

Successful at what? Gaining Scottish independence, even in the face of Brexit? -Nope. Closing the child poverty gap? Nope. Improving outcomes in education, which she actually wanted to be judged on? Nope. Better Covid outcomes than Boris Johnson? Nope. Knowing what a woman is? Nope.

Oh wait, yeah, she was massively successful in one thing, at least. Scotland having the highest rate of drug deaths in Europe.

She was also pretty good at winning elections tbf.

Oh, and you forgot "Ferries!!!!"

CaptainSevenofNine · 26/08/2025 15:31

NS has really disappointed me. I thought she could so so much for women, especially when she started the NACWG. It seemed groundbreaking. I participated in every session pre Covid. Jenny Lindsay performed!

Then came the fall into gender ideology and she was lost to us, though I think the fall into that was influenced by Emma Ritch and others and was NS’ attempt to make amends for her position on Section 28.

I think, I hope, if she’d been better briefed we’d never have ended up where we did.

Purplecatshopaholic · 26/08/2025 15:34

I shall be reading her book. I don’t get the hate for her on here at all.

Don’t you have the dire public services the rest of us do in Scotland?

The only good thing she’s done is bury the chance of Scotland becoming independent for a good 20 years or so.

SirChenjins · 26/08/2025 15:49

In the same way that 'man' doesn't mean 'woman' and never will, 'Nicola Sturgeon' doesn't mean 'great leader' and never will. The woman is a self-serving ignoramus who has left a shit show in her wake. The only book of hers I'd buy is the one that JKR has annotated.

Frankly, no. Friends and family in England and Wales have it far worse. She’s made mistakes for sure, and I am not a fan of everything she has done, but the sheer hatred for the woman on here is crazy and way out of proportion, imo.

MSPs are not on ‘annual leave’ when parliment is in recess - that is when they are meant to catch up on constituency work and read up on reports, inquiries and proposed bills. Or do you think they are only meant to work three days a week for 30 weeks of the year?

Define "most successful"

She was elected to bring independence. She failed.
She asked to be judged on closing the attainment gap. She failed.
Feminist to her fingerprints who tried to remove safety and dignity from women. Fail.
In terms of being a leader, she lost top talent from her party, trashed its finances, lost its members and achieved very little. The child payment helps some people, but there is a strong argument to say better education and a stronger economy would have done a lot more. Failed.

And you know what's worse? She has so little self awareness she doesn't even recognise her failure. Nicola Sturgeon turned out to be a huge disappointment.

Dingledongledell · 26/08/2025 18:59

What really pisses me off is that the denies so much that is glaringly obvious. She’ll deny Scottish education is circling the plughole, she’ll deny handing women’s rights to men endangered women, she’ll deny giving a ferry contract to a company unable to deliver just because they were Scottish, she’ll deny drugs deaths are her fault, she’ll deny that Indy Scotland would go bankrupt in a week, she’ll deny everything. If makes you feel gaslit. We’re not all as gullible / hard of thinking as her fans.

If the Scottish government said ‘yes, education is shit but we’re going to start kicking violent kids out of mainstream schools’ I’d think SO MUCH more of them. But they just pretend all is rosy, that kids will put down the chair that they were about to hurl into the middle of the class because they’ve been handed a laminated piece of paper asking them to behave. What planet do they think we’re on???
