Anyone rushing to buy it? To read such startling revelations that she is attracted to women as well as men? (Must be tricky seeing as she can't define what a woman is).

I'm actually an admirer of Nicola. And yes i live in Scotland.
It has always amazed me the amount of sheer hatred directed against her.

Enrichetta · 09/08/2025 17:32

Quite.

I would not even borrow this $#@% from my local library…

Agree. She’s an embarrassment and a disgrace.

I take it your mum wasn’t one of those who were killed by her discharging Covid infected patients to care homes?

I find it fascinating that probably the most successful woman in Britain this century is treated with such derision on this website.

I have to laugh at this.

I will never celebrate a woman who doesn't support women. And NS will never be "the most successful woman in Britain", escape your delusion.

I cannot believe there are still some people who will support this sleekit, devious woman even after all the revelations about what the SNP were up to under her leadership and the fact the country has fallen to bits. It really is a cult.

Love the word sleekit.

Define successful. We have had a woman prime minister (not always remembered fondly). There is a wealth of women business women, scientists etc who have been far more successful than sturgeon (who got her position through Alex salmond).

KassandraOfSparta · 09/08/2025 19:29

We have had two - if you count Liz Truss. JK Rowling is way more successful than Sturgeon. People like Annie Lennox are known worldwide. Sturgeon is a minor politician, a big fish in a very wee pond.

She definitely thought she'd walk straight into a senior position at the EU or UN. Delusional.

She was only running Scotland

Not sure ‘running’ quite describes the harm she caused.

Running or ruining?

OnAMissionToLoseWeight · 09/08/2025 21:05

Sturgeon rejected concerns from Reem Alsalem, the UN Special Rapporteur on violence against women and girls, who warned that the proposed reforms on self ID could "open the door for violent males." Sturgeon characterized these concerns as "not well founded."

And then...."Isla Bryson" came along.

I am Scottish and am APPALLED that Nicola as a supposed educated women felt this was an appropriate course of action.

I'm genuinely amazed she has the nerve to launch a book and "An Evening with..." events. She's a national disgrace.

Poor Theresa May, completely forgotten already, she was prime minister for three whole years (I had to google the dates tbf).

She became first minister after Alec Salmond buggered off in a huff after the referendum, and what has she done with her premiership? What successes has she to show for?

Maybe it’s because this is a majority female website - so, you know, we tend to give a shit about the legal definition of woman and what means for us.

I’ve a feeling you’re male and therefore you don’t get it because you don’t have to.

The problem with this country is idiots vote SNP as it bungs them extra money in their benefits. Not matter how incredibly idiotic the politicians they elect are. Nicola Sturgeon didn’t have to do anything to become first minister other than to be the most popular idiot amongst the idiots that are the SNP MSP. It’s a shame Kate Forbes is off. She’s the only remaining SNP MSP with an IQ above average.

I wholeheartedly disagree with the Scottish child payment. It only drags children out of poverty as ‘poverty’ is defined as 60% of median income after housing costs. Chucking more money at people will by definition bring kids out of poverty, but it doesn’t mean their lives are any better as the money could be spent on goodness knows what, whereas if the money went into education / sure start the results would be guaranteed to improve the lives of kids living in poverty.

Motnight · 10/08/2025 17:21

Any woman in power gaslighting other women about their safety can fuck off quite frankly.

ReignOfError · 10/08/2025 17:29

I won’t be buying the book because I don’t read memoirs/autobiographies.

I will say, having worked alongside Sturgeon’s government, and those of six Prime Ministers from both main parties (and a LibDem Deputy PM), plus two US governments and one President, I have a great deal more respect for Sturgeon and much of her government than for any of the others.

And yes, I have lived in Scotland (and would prefer still to be doing so).

She has promoted an independent Scotland to a level of people wanting it more than they did before.

I must be an idiot for voting to bring children out of poverty, a hundred pounds a month to tackle childhood malnutrition

Igneococcus · 10/08/2025 18:35

Did she?
I think more people would have liked her to spent at least some time and effort and thought into how to provide the people of Scotland with some fairly basic services. Ferries, trains that don't get cancelled for no apparent reason and leave you stuck in Glasgow overnight, GPs, dentists, a growing economy, some coherent plan on how to deal with energy shortages (which will come no matter how many windmills you stick onto the hills), She had no interest in any of that, all just grandstanding and pushing for independence.

Even she would have to disagree with that as she doesn’t know what a woman is!

Uhm yeah and thank god Scotland isn't fully independent and Supreme Court judgment interpreting the EA is binding. Hope this helps.
