We are looking at houses round these parts. Anywhere to avoid? Is the centre of Kirky ok?

There aren't really any no-go areas as they are both nice places to live IMO - good schools and good amenities, access to nature. Kirky has more as it's bigger, Lenzie more "desirable" (and therefore more expensive) but both good places to live. My only comments would be to think about whether things like public transport/being walking distance from a shop are important to you. The town centre of Kirky has plenty of cafes and supermarkets but like many towns, some of the outlying housing areas have less amenities and are far away from public transport (longish bus journey or drive to Lenzie station to get into Glasgow). likewise even Lenzie a lot of it can be quite car-based because of the layout of the place.
