I'm staying in Glasgow from tomorrow for a week, staying near the St Enoch's subway station. I need to use the buses on Monday and Tuesday (and Sun evening) and the subway Wednesday to Sunday. I have to drop DD off and collect her a few hours later, so 4 journeys a day for me. I can walk short distances, but due to a hip injury can't walk for too long. Weather forecast is not great either for walking.
Trying to find out what options there are for daily/weekly/3-in-7 bus tickets in Glasgow. Can anyone please explain simply what the options are? So far, I can see that there are Tripper cards, Zone cards, City/Local bus passes and Network bus passes, as well as weekly passes for the subway, but can't find all the prices, areas covered, whether they're for all operators or just Firstbus, and information about whether I also need a photocard or smartcard.
Traveline Scotland Journey Planner has been a headache, but seem to have figured that out now. It's not programmed to give bus routes from a subway station so comes up with none, and telling it I want to go from St Enoch's Square gives some options and from the hotel gives others.
I have a lot of hanging around, whilst DD is in rehearsals. Monday and Tuesday she's at the Scottish Opera building near the King's Theatre and the rest of the week she's near St George's Cross subway. Anywhere interesting to kill 3-4 hours near these?
We have a lot of time outside of DD's activities too, so also wondering more generally what's on in Glasgow next week and/or good options for a 15-year-old. Any tips on cheap cinema nights etc?
