Advanced Higher Spanish

Hi, just wondering if anyone here has DC doing or will be doing Advanced Higher Spanish next year?
DS has made his choices for S6 and will just essentially be ‘re-sitting’ all of his S5 subjects (though his teachers are confident he will actually pass these all). However since making his choices, he’s come to me and asked about doing Advanced Higher Spanish, as well as a couple of other subjects not being offered at AH level by his current school, and we’ve chatted about potentially moving schools so he can do that.
We are in West Fife, and from some googling, can’t see any of our local high schools offering it, so was just trying to find out if there was any schools that may be commutable to, that do? His current thinking is that he’d be happy to travel to Edinburgh and within Fife itself (providing another school can/would take him since he’ll be out of catchment of course!).
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not Fife but common in our local authority. They had a list of which schools would offer which AH and offered transfer to that school or transport if it was just one subject or even by teams (not a language though). Local private school used to take state students for languages at AH for free but that was before tax changes.

Bell Baxter High School in Cupar offers AH Spanish. At least they did in the course choices, whether it actually runs or not depends on uptake.

Cupar is pretty easy to get to as it has the train station and lots of buses.

Thanks for this-we are going to speak with his guidance teacher to see if this is something that could be an option. His guidance teacher was actually off when course choice forms had to be in, and she’s usually on the ball with offering alternatives if the timetable/subjects don’t quite fit so I’m fairly confident she’ll be able to tell us if this is viable or not.

Thank you. We went and had a look at Bell Baxter’s website after your suggestion to see what other subjects they offered, and ds seemed quite happy that he’d get other subjects at the levels he wants and he’s quite happy travelling too.
Will definitely be following that up if we can’t get something down this end of Fife.

AH Spanish is an option at Inverkeithing High.

Thanks for this.
Inverkeithing would probably be easier for him to get to if he was able to get a place there.
A good few options to ponder and see what can be sorted out for ds.
