Time Capsule Coatbridge

Just looking at the website to see about a wee trip to the Time Capsule. The website talks about all the amazing rides then says Important Information- the flumes are closed.

Does that mean all the slides are closed or are there still things worth doing? It's not clear.

We were thinking about taking ds13 and his pal but it's only worth the trip if there is enough extra to make it more fun than our local rectangle swimming pool.

Thank you

I don't know op, but watching as we passed the turnoff on the motorway at the weekend and ds2 was asking about it. He actually was there as a very small child, but ds1 and I were talking about how much fun it had been and I was planning to take them.

It's been a good while, but they had quite a bit of other stuff such as the river rapids and the big bucket that tipped water on you, but I suspect 13 yr olds might find it a bit tame without the flumes.

Not worth going at that age if the flumes are closed. The lazy river, wave pool isn't worth it without the flumes in my opinion.

It says the Tornado Tantrum ride is running. Is that any good?

And I guess there's waves.

I haven't looked up how much it costs, maybe that will make my mind up.

Is there a decent cafe for me to wait in? That is just as important.

It's not worth it with flumes and the bucket closed. Unless you also go ice skating?

ThreeMagicNumber · 13/02/2025 18:58

I've just checked on fb and someone posted the other week that their website isn't updated regularly enough as people turned up for 4pm public skate and were told it was actually at 3 and website wasn't up to date. So I'd maybe call. If it's only one flume then there's others, I'd still go if just one. Yes the cafe is alright and the tables are above it along the side of the pool. It's not that expensive at all.

Edited as misread it as only one flume closed. I'd hold off till they are back on then.

The tantrum ride is the fast one with the rings you sit on. It's been open. Both standard flumes closed but one of those has been closed for years. Wave machine still on and lazy river trail bit also open.

We used to take the kids regularly about 10 years ago, they loved it and it was really good value. It's run by the council though and all councils seem really bad at putting up to date info on their websites, so I'd call them to see exactly what's open.

Not worth it for teens without the flumes.
The last time we went the place was a health hazard 🤢, really grotty and run down. Filthy and broken tiles and open drains.

OneFineDay13 · 15/02/2025 22:56

we were there the other night and we all loved it. I think the only part that was closed was the big flume. But the other one where you sit down in the float was still working and the waves were on

Well after we finally decided we would go we looked online and it was fully booked for the times we wanted to go. So I guess it must still be popular. We'll save our visit for when it re-opens.
