Inverness Inn or similar

Anyone here live in Inverness?

I'm coming up with my family, in the summer & I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to recommend a lovely pub/ inn/ B&B, please? We won't be driving, so within walking distance of the station would be a bonus.

I've looked Tripadvisor etc, but am feeling overwhelmed with choice. 🤯

Thanks for reading.

Hi @FlappyBat - what kind of thing are you looking for from Inverness? Anything in the Ballifeary area will be walkable from the station, near the river and town centre as well as eating places. Make sure you book for dinner etc as it's horrendous trying to get a table in the summer. McBains, The Mustard Seed and Cafe 1 are among the best eating places in town.

Thanks so much for replying so quickly, @Bakedbeansandtoast!

We tend to like comfy, attractive places with character, rather than high-end luxury. A view would be lovely. Got a decent budget, and it's a big birthday, so splurging a bit.

Staying for a few days.

Ness Walk is so central but a beautiful setting, right on the river. Five star.
Not a pub though. Can't think of a really nice pub to stay at - there is Wetherspoons which is probably not the ambience you're after!!

😁 I'm sure a Nessie Spoons would have a certain je ne sais quois.

These suggestions are really helpful: thanks to both of you.

I don't know any specifically but have a look along the river heading south out of the city centre. I recall a number of B&Bs overlooking the river and it's probably the prettiest part of inverness.

This would be my choice. It's right on the river, nice part of town, walking distance to the town centre/station/restaurants etc.

Otherwise, i'd suggest getting the train to Nairn and staying in the Golf View Hotel, they do a lovely bar menu and have a spa as well with a view of the sea.

Porter's Lodge

Porter's Lodge - A lovely detached bungalow resting in Inverness, Highland. Enclosed garden. Smart TV. Close to amenities. Romantic. Electric fire. Off-road parking. North Kessock 5.2 miles; Dores 8.6 miles; Tomatin 18 miles.
