Moms of talented vocalists, what form of vocal training is your children pursuing?

Choir, private solo lessons? Trinity/ABRSM singing exams? Other?

I would love to hear about your childrens’ vocal journeys whatever they are (obviously dont reveal your location or anything like that).

We are moving to Scotland in June and our 11 y/o daighter is a talented vocalist (particularly pop/rock/broadway). I am not asking for any specific advice just yet as our location in Scotland is undecided. I am merely interested to hear what your little songbirds are pursuing as a general discussion 😊 TIA

I would recommend private singing lessons from someone who can teach her properly. I can't stress how important it is for her to be taught with a correct technique in order to protect her young, developing voice. Singing in a Broadway/rock/pop style can be really damaging for young voices.

NYCOS regional choirs offer fantastic vocal coaching, it complements anything she does with a musical theatre group as it teaches the musicality etc. Individual lessons with a vocal coach also great. You may find that they offer singing lessons at high school, in our area you are allowed one instrument(which includes voice) free, though this will be in a small group not individual.
