Has anyone's school ditched prelims or still going ahead?

DDs school are apparently going ahead, but the school she goes to for AH History (consortia) is not doing prelims.

So she'll only get exam experience for 2 of her subjects.

I know prelims no longer count for appeals but it could still be good for those kids who need a kick up the arse to study more or to identify areas where they might need to ask for help.

No idea when the prelims are taking place though. I think it was December and January last year.

I agree, prelims are essential. My DD totally messed up her Nat 5 English prelim last year, saw where she went wrong and got an A in the actual exam. I've not heard anything about them being ditched at her Edinburgh state school.

Ours have changed this year to only doing them for s4. S5 and S6 will have exam experience so I don’t think they’re particularly valuable from that perspective. They can be a good kick up the bum (both my 2 did bugger all for prelims in s5 and s4 respectively so they’d have been no use in an appeal but got a fright and seriously upped their game - eldest ended up with 5 As at higher) but our school is now doing 3 x assessment windows instead which (they’ve just had one so far) which thus far seems helpful.

I trust our head he is very committed to increasing attainment and so I’m OK with it now, despite having been apprehensive at the start of term.

The timetable at DS's school is out for the prelims. They will be Dec/Jan depending on subject. Typically DS has all his in January 🙄
