Any experience of council BuyBack scheme please?

Hi, just wondering if any of you have any knowledge of the Lanarkshire buy back scheme you could share please. Giving serious thought to putting my 3 bed house on the market. Estate agent chat suggested it will sell no problem. The previous owners bought it from the council. I’m aware there is a council buy back scheme running and wondering if I might give it a go. Positives are no estate agent fees, home report and wondering whether to decorate. But wondering are they likely to offer less than estate agent valuation. I suppose what I’m hoping is they’ll be so keen to get my house back into council housing stock they might offer me more than I’d make selling it via an estate agent 😄

The Council won't be able to buy it for higher than it's independently valued at (possibly by the district valuer, not by an estate agent).

you need to weigh up if what you could sell it for on the open market would be more than it's valued at, plus fees, redecoration etc.

The council will get 2 independent valuations and will offer the average that's what happened to my friend when she sold hers. It was a really easy stress free way to sell.

Thank you for your replies. I did wonder if there was room for negotiation but from what you’ve said the council will survey the house and then make an offer which will be “take it or leave it”

I’ll need to do my sums, allowing for legal fees, then have a figure in my head that would be the minimum I would accept from them . Then decide if I’d be best to put the house on the market.

I bought my house last year and I know that the council had placed an offer on it below the asking price and wouldn't move from it and that's in Lanarkshire.
