SQA timetable 2025

out... I think this is a draft, but I don't think in previous years it has changed much. I have a DS doing Highers this year and they're very spread out - Geography on the first day, English and Drama a week after that on subsequent days, and then Business a fortnight later and RMPS on the very last day.

that one is being changed as there's an error in it (DDs tutor said so). So updated one coming out later this week.

Looking forward to seeing this new exam timetable. Thanks for posting about it.

It’s not SQA! It’s centres complaining so much it gets thrown back & has to be redone…..

Werweisswohin · 02/09/2024 11:42

I'll wait until the actual timetable is out (and not the draft), cheers though.

I know last year DS's drama Nat 5 was scheduled on the same day as Nat 5 Maths, in previous year it had been on the same day as another less popular subject like accounting or physics, the argument was that there would be a much higher % of kids doing both maths and drama than both maths and physics.

Didn't change though!

Unfortunately there will always be those who have less favourable spacing. DS always has a bunch of ok-ish dates then a long wait subject. He's in S6 now though and that long wait subject is coursework only at Adv Higher, so the wait is finally gone. 😬

Hopefully it won’t change much for mine, he’s only doing 3 and they are all about a week apart on that draft, that would be great. He’d be all done on 16 May so maybe we might fit in a cheap holiday!

motheronthedancefloor · 02/09/2024 13:16

I hope it doesn't change much for mine either as her exams would be done and dusted in just over a week, so would make a change from being so spread out and we could go on holiday as she will be finished school for good

lToodles · 05/09/2024 22:35

DD checked tonight and none of hers changed v the draft. She has a couple of runs so we were quietly hoping something might have moved there but all still the same.

Vettrianofan · 06/09/2024 14:11

Just checked for DS. He will be done by 19th May according to the timetable. Nicely spaced out for him too.

Everyone else happy with their DC's exam dates? Hopefully they aren't crammed in to a tiny window!

motheronthedancefloor · 06/09/2024 15:13

DDs finish pretty early. Hoping to be able to go on a holiday except she'd probably want her BF of 2 years to come too and not sure when he finishes his.

QueryA · 06/09/2024 19:20

DDs are awful. 29th, 30th, 1st, 12th and 26th. So three back to back at the very start so she doesn’t even get study leave before them. A break (which is fine) and then a massive break until art at the end. So she doesn’t even get the relief of them being over, it drags out until the very end. So sad for her.

LongtailedTitmouse · 06/09/2024 19:48

Two on the same day 😞.

DC gets lots of accommodations including extra time and breaks. In theory the second paper of the first exam is an hour before the second exam. In practice they are likely to overlap once access arrangements have been put in place. I presume he will need a supervised lunch on his own and won’t start the second subject until after everyone else has finished it?

LaughingLemur · 06/09/2024 20:05

Very long wait for Art here too. We'd hoped to get a holiday in but no chance now 😔

Misthios · 06/09/2024 20:06

@LongtailedTitmouse I had this when I was invigilating the exams in May, kids who had more time, or a scribe or something and their exams ran over. It doesn't really matter if it's two papers of the same exam, or one exam in the morning and one in the afternoon.

The kids still got their breaks, so if it was 30 minutes between one paper ending and the next starting, that's what they got. Even if the rest of the students had started paper 2 before they had finished paper 1. Some students didn't want to take their full break and just wanted 10 minutes to go to the loo and get a drink and that was fine - as long as I didn't allow them to start the second paper before the set start time.

For lunch it was the same. The difference at the school where I worked was that they had a policy of not letting ANY student leave before the end of the exam. So it was easier to manage students finishing late as there was no chance they'd bump into others who had left their next exam early.

School, or the invigilating team, will manage this for you. We are there to help and as an invigilator I was most concerned that the kids took a proper break and had eaten/drunk properly.

Thanks, I know he would get his breaks (I believe he gets extra time for these too). But it is still over five hours of exams, which is an awful long time for anyone to have to concentrate even without ASN, and with breaks take it well beyond the normal school day.
