Free School Meals P6/P7

Does anyone know if the roll out of free school meals for P6 and P7 will be going ahead anytime soon at all?

I think it's on hold - unlikely to ever happen.
ScotGov are trying to cut back on spending

I would much prefer they target proper support to children from families who are really struggling to feed their kids than give everyone a freebie.

School lunches aren't great because budgets are so low. If they were not trying to provide them free there would be more cash to up the quality and fund similar projects like feeding kids in school holidays. Also the quantity of food is just not enough for a 11 year old, they offer the same amount to a 4.5 year old who has just started P1 and a 12 year old about to leave P7.

No I don't think they will ever roll it out further. The quality of the meals has got so much worse since the scheme started too.

And they want us to £2.70 a day for that in P6/7, my child has just gone into P6 and onto packed lunches everyday which I can make cheaper and actually provide a decent amount of food.

They've just announced that the budget for P6/7 school meals is now being used to fund pay deals.

So it won't be any time soon

To be honest I didn't think it would happen but couldn't find anything confirming either way.
