Hi anyone know this area? I was adopted from Edinburgh but my birth mum and family come from here. I'm trying to trace if any relatives 😁 is this a small town? Xx

Don't live there but used to work in that area.
They are large villages now rather than towns. Ex- mining area, depending how old you are they would have been quite small villages.

It's a lot bigger than it used to be due to a number of new build developments around the edges. You could look on google maps for an idea of scale......

Thanks. I am in process of tracing my birth mum. Merlyn Thompson. She then became Merlyn Lewis. I just found out she died 2 yrs ago which is a shame. I am 51 now so my adoption was years ago. Hopefully I can make contact with some family members x

These are traditional mining towns and a lot of families live locally to their parents rather than moving away, so you might be able to trace your family through their neighbours and friends. People are friendly and helpful. There has been a lot of new building of houses but the traditional core will remain. Either you could visit the area for a few days or get someone to do this on your behalf.
