Hi all,

Visiting my parents in the summer and often have a day or two child-free in Edinburgh.

Husband and I love finding new places to eat and drink.

Anyone happy to share their must-eat places?! Equally, drinks too. I am a massive fan of a good-quality sparkling (not prosecco). Whighams is on our favourite list if that helps for context.

Bonus points if lesser-known places that we may have never heard of to broaden our horizons.

We love Italian food and have done all of the 'main Italians' on the list.

Also love Scottish/locally sourced cuisine.

We aren't planning on venturing to Leith this time but equally, if there is one worth knowing about...do share.

Getting hungry already thinking about the recommendations that might head this way!

If Greek food does anything for you, https://www.kafeneiontosteki.com is as authentic as can be. I go a long way out of my way to eat there every time, anytime I'm well, in the same time zone.

Rollo, Educated Flea and Pickle all on Broughton St. St James Quarter has lots of new eating/drinking places and W Hotel with mega roof terrace and Sushi Samba.

All new ideas added to our radar.

@ToffeeSheep looks like Educated Flea has closed its doors now. Loved the name of it.

@FinallyHere hadn't heard of this or thought about Greek. Definitely looking into this. Thank you.

Have you tried: https://divinoedinburgh.com/#1 ? That’s maybe a classic-on-the-list one.

It’s small and niche and I’ve not yet been, but I’m very keen to try: https://www.la-cime.co.uk This one will definitely be spared the Festival crowds.

Hotel W Bar is very nice. I’ve also had enjoyable times at www.theregisterclub.com

Let us know how you get on!

Educated Flea has a sister restaurant still open in Bruntsfield.

It's called Three Birds. Great local place with v friendly service and good food.

Have you tried Italian La Locanda in lovely Cockburn Street?
Brasserie Prince at the Balmoral has great wine list and the best steak with bearnaise sauce I’ve ever had.
On our last visit we enjoyed a drink at the W hotel at the top of the new shopping centre with a fantastic view over Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth - though I’m told that the view from John Lewis cafe is just as good.
