Parking around Garnethill St Glasgow

Sorry I know this is really boring but I'd really appreciate some advice from those in the know. I'm dropping my daughter off next week to her flat in Garnethill and I've heard it's expensive and tricky to park. We will have a boot load of her stuff to move into the flat. We're coming from northern Ireland and will be in the area for about 5 hours or so. Can anyone tell me about the parking situation and advise on the cheapest way to do it? Thanks!

Not much help, but maybe you'll be able to unload outside the flat (keeping an eye out for traffic wardens) and then go and park in the Cambridge Street car park while you get your dd settled in (and go for a meal to recover? Wink).

It's a while since I parked at Cambridge St but it always used to be relatively reasonable - as is the Q Park (accessed from Bath Street). Certainly much more reasonable than on-street parking Grin

If you can unload fairly quickly you can probably just watch out for traffic wardens or pay at the machine or RingGo app for an hour - I think it's about £6 per hour. You can only park for 2 hours on-street, then you have to move your car so you could move your car to Cambridge St or Charing Cross multi-storey or use https://www.yourparkingspace.co.uk/ to find a space nearby e.g. you can book the DoubleTree hotel underground parking.

Lots of road works in the area plus it's in the LEZ.

Thanks for the replies and the links. Very helpful. Yes I think offloading quickly and keeping an eye out for the traffic wardens is the best way 😄.
My car is a 1.4 petrol car 2019. Will that be OK in the LEZ?

Never mind I just found the lez checker - we're all good 👍 😀

If you go to the chippy at the bottom of hill street, they sell parking vouchers @ 50p for 30 mins. You can park up to an hour on them. ( 1 voucher for 30, 2 for 60 min) would that work?

StressyMcStressFace · 14/07/2024 09:08

Thanks @Rhumba. I've been wondering about the traffic warden situation and thought that actually it may just be monitored by cameras? I had been thinking of pulling up, putting on the hazards, unloading the car and then going to park in multi-storey. However I'm not sure if the first part of the plan will work if there's cameras about! If I can get a voucher that sounds like a decent solution 👌
They've got me every way!! 😆

@Rhumba Vouchers have been replaced by parking meters / RingGo app and the price is the same as the city centre £1.60 for 15 mins, 2 hours max between 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Traffic wardens just patrol on foot.

Thanks @sometimesitrainshere 👍

Edited

don’t think so as I used them recently. They allow you to park in the permit zones.
