Direct flight destinations?

Hi - looking to book a long weekend getaway just me and DH for a special occasion in September but see so few direct flight options and would ideally not have to transfer due to amount of time that would swallow up if it's just a short break. Any suggestions? We are quite central so could potentially fly from Edinburgh, Aberdeen, or Glasgow

From Glasgow you can go to Tenerife, Lanzarote, Málaga, Dublin, Turkey (I can't remember the name of the airport), Amsterdam, Berlin I believe as well.

Edinburgh and Aberdeen I'm unsure on but just look on their website and it'll tell you.

There's quite a few options to fly Edinburgh-South of France with good times that would give you plenty of time there

Have a look on Skyscanner.

Pop your dates into google flights with all 3 airports ticked, leave destination as anywhere and tick non stop, then you can see on the map where you can go and prices (sometimes have to zoom in to each country separately fo get all the options)

Dh and I went to Madeira in March and it was fabulous. We went with Jet2 (flying from Glasgow) who were great. Will go again. Small island so transfers aren't long.

Also thinking of Malta for a short break.

Will happily look at all the destinations that Jet2 go to.

Bettyscakes · 11/07/2024 20:33

Have you checked the airport websites? There are loads of direct flights from Edinburgh & Glasgow.

Glasgow to Malaga with jet2 is a good option. Malaga is a beautiful city break destination and it will be a lovely temperature in September.

There's loads of direct flights from Edinburgh and Glasgow! Edinburgh has a route map on their website. What sort of break do you want.....city break, activities, lying by a pool in a resort??

HappyGoLuckyLuLu · 12/07/2024 09:42

Hoping for somewhere with some culture but also some relaxing options. Probably city but if could combine city & coast that would be ideal. Bit of luxury (within reason) as it's rare to go away just the two of us and have saved about £1500 so should have a bit more by then and hoping that will about cover it 🤞🤞
Thanks for suggestions - I'll look and search about some more over the weekend

Barcelona or Lisbon might suit for combining city and coast.

This webpage shows you all the destinations you can fly to from Edinburgh Airport. Click on a destination and that will show you which airlines fly there.

Destinations | Edinburgh Airport

And this one does the same for Glasgow Airport

All Destinations | Glasgow Airport

Or use Skyscanner and click the Direct Flights only box.

Compare Cheap Flights & Book Airline Tickets to Everywhere | Skyscanner

Jet 2 are also good for city breaks and short holidays.

Invisimamma · 12/07/2024 15:14

There are so many destinations that go direct.

For city breaks we've done Berlin, Amsterdam and Krakow.

I would recommend Krakow.

We did a Venice city break to Venice direct from Edinburgh last year - flew direct into Marco Polo airport and then got a direct water bus to Venice. Really easy and a great trip

There are absolutely loads of direct flights from Glasgow and Edinburgh. We've been to Lisbon, Barcelona, Malta, Copenhagen, Palma and Nice in the last couple of years. All direct flights.

Misthios · 13/07/2024 12:22

We flew to Rome with Jet 2 from Glasgow, would be ideal for a getaway.

Weegieunicorn · 14/07/2024 10:03

Seville from Edinburgh.

HappyGoLuckyLuLu · 14/07/2024 19:12

Loads more options than I had realised - we've booked for Marrakech - can't wait!!! Smile
