You'd knock this down rather than do it up?

A bungalow in Edinburgh for £175k.

It must have been empty for a very long time.

It looks like the kind of property my husband would buy in a shot if he was single. A garage with a house attached. He probably wouldn’t bother doing it up.

Could just live in the garage to be fair! The exterior doesn't look too bad in comparison to the inside, but goodness knows what kind of problems there might be.

Yes I'd knock it down, not even a pretty looking bungalow in its hay day either I suspect.

If it was a Victorian house with original features then I'd do it up, but it would probably cost more to do up than to knock down and build a new one - but I'm not a builder and know bigger all about it either Grin

I think it's lovely! I wouldn't knock it down unless you need a much bigger house but I'd probably extend the kitchen.

CocoapuffPuff · 06/06/2024 10:59

It's got some problems but no, I'd not knock it down unless it had huge structural problems. It's damp and unheated and I expect needs a new roof. But that workshop space AND the garden....I would, in a heart beat. We sold a 1 bedroom flat in Edinburgh for more than that 23 years ago. That is a bargain.

It's sad to imagine that once upon a time that would have been a cherished home.

Planning permission might not be given as the neighbours are bungalows and they might want to keep the area looking the same.

Says it's flood damaged. 175k!!

Gingernaut · 06/06/2024 11:19

That is a massive garage/workshop/outbuilding! 😍😍😍😍😍

GrouchyKiwi · 06/06/2024 17:13

If it didn't have structural issues I'd definitely do it up. It has some lovely shapes.
