Late Application for School Nursery

School nursery places we allocated at the end of April here. DS is at a private nursery but he hates it. He's going into his pre-school year this year and I was wondering what my chances are of getting him in? (I've emailed the admission team but not had a reply yet). I know they prioritise 4 year olds and deferrers over younger children for school nursery but obviously the places will be filled now. Has anyone had any luck with a late application? Even if it's a January/April start rather than August?

It depends how big the school nursery is and whether they do just term time or extended years. Normally most term time placements fill up fast, but there's always extended year places left. They may be able to offer you a space at a different school nursery instead of your catchment school, so it depends if you'd want your child going to a different nursery than where they will be going to school too.

Call the school direct. Speak to the head or office re spaces, say you have done the online application, ask what the waiting list is if at all.

It depends on the nursery. The one I'm in we have no places for August. All have been allocated. But previously you would have had a place no bother the last 3 years. You might be better contacting the setting directly as it's usually an intake in August, January and April for funding and older children will get a place above three year olds.

Thanks all. I'm in Edinburgh and nursery places are like golddust here. There's no online application system either, we have to hand a paper application into the school office. I've contacted admissions so will see what they say.
