I've done a lot of googling but would love first hand reviews of primary schools in Aberdeenshire.

Non fee paying.

Smaller schools preferred, child is quiet, petite and sometimes not so confident. Moving from abroad and will know no one. Only child.

Ideally a small education setting with children from early years to secondary (to help keep friendship groups) but also good feeders.

I understand the catchment process, just wanted to get an overall view.

Many thanks

Also, welcome opinions of St Machar Academy

I'd probably avoid St Machar. More highly regarded secondaries in Aberdeen are Cults, Aberdeen Grammar and Harlaw.

In Aberdeenshire - well regarded secondaries are Westhill and Banchory.

You could try Durris or Crathes small schools which feed into Banchory Academy.

There aren't many state schools that are early years through to secondary. Might have some that are on a campus together.
