Hi! Can anyone tell me what the parking is like here?

I've got an appointment tomorrow and I know the parking at my local hospital is usually a nightmare so I thought I'd better check.

Terrible usually. Arrive early and try the overflow car park. Loads of issues - although it is Easter hols right now so clinics may be quieter than usual this week so less cars?

wearynell · 11/04/2024 15:19

Thank you, I'll head to overflow

It really depends when your appointment is. Sometimes we've had no problem parking in the main car park, but on other occasions (particularly after lunchtime appointments) we have had to head to the overflow car park. Be aware the overflow is a bit of a longer walk.

It's a morning appointment and we live about 40mins away so we'll leave as early as we can.

The overflow carpark usually has some space. Then you can go in the door at the side of a&e. I think it's called staff night entrance but it saves a walk.

The barriers to the middle car park are usually up on a Friday, but if they're not, ring the buzzer and say you have an appointment and you're running late, however, 9 times out of ten, when you buzz, they just open them up.

The barriers are up every day from lunchtime anyway so not breaking any rules. Staff all park out the front which they're not meant to.

You want to head for car park 2 (green) or purple car park which is the overflow. If your appointment is after 9:30am then no chance in the front car park.

There regularly and usually manage to get parked in the main car park eventually. The turnover is pretty quick so as long as you there with enough time to spare and prepared to make a couple of circuits, you should be fine.

55Sainz · 12/04/2024 18:42

Did you get parked ok, OP?

wearynell · 15/04/2024 10:02

Sorry just seeing this - yup we got into purple.
