I'm considering taking myself out for a solo cake and coffee date for my birthday in a few weeks. I'll probably head to the West End in Glasgow for have a wee look round the shops as well.
Does anyone have any recommendations for places where I won't stick out like a billy no mates sore thumb!
My birthday is midweek hence the solo date as everyone else will be working!

I've no recommendations but you're not going to stick out anywhere like a sore thumb. Surely going for a mooch and coffee by one's self is exceptionally common. Go and enjoy and don't pay it a second thought.

I don't know? I've never done it! But you're probably right!

Though I was just in Glasgow I have no recommendations in term of deep knowledge, but Cottonrake café looked yummy. I'm always out and about on my own and have no problem sitting in a cafe for a coffee and cake or meal here in London where I live. Plenty of others always doing the same. I fact my DD and I went to the West End Coffee house on Great Western Rd last week and there were at least three women there on their own, two with laptops doing work one just enjoying people watching. Go anywhere that catches your eye and enjoy! Happy birthday too!

The West End Coffee house in Glasgow I mean as I imagine there's a Great Western Rd here in London too!

Had to Google there but when I saw the pictures realised it's somewhere I'd like to go so that could be a good shout. And right next to the Botanics so I could take a walk through there too.

Lots of lovely coffee shops and cafes around Byres Road and Great Western Road. You won't stand out at all; perfectly normal to have coffee, cake and some me-time!

Very common for people to be out in glasgow alone for coffee and cake, you won't stick out anywhere. I am currently alone having tea and panini alone, didn't think twice about it.

Check out the The Broken Clock cafe and patisserie on Park Road. It’s near Kelvinbridge so not too far, and has the most amazing cakes - perfect for a solo birthday treat. Happy birthday when it comes 🎂

Last time we were over the West End we actually stopped for coffees here and I eyed up the cakes. They look amazing don't they. And thank you for the birthday wishes!

Lots of places and nobody will look twice at you. Cafe Monza at Partick is nice.

I was in Kember and Jones on Byres Rd recently and loved it - but I prefer cakes that aren't too fancy so it was more of a scone/cinnamon whirl/shortbread kind of place I think. My SIL recommended the Broken Clock for patisserie stuff - not my cup of tea but if it's yours then another rec for it!
