Is participating in Mumsnet Feminist threads or Twitter women’s rights threads a Hate Crime?

Just wondering if I need to delete accounts or stop participating. Not said anything hateful, but have liked comments that certain sensitive folk could perceive as being mean - mainly about keeping female sport for females, and not doing medical experiments on children. Also criticised Humza quite a few times, so that could land me in hot water. Does having GC books count as a hate crime?

This won’t help trans people at all - all this will do is make women resent the trans community.

Biology is reality.

I'm just so tired of Scotgov and their naive student politics. They don't consider unwanted consequences of the laws they put in place. They think in simplistic rose tinted ways when we need our law makers to consider the way loopholes might be exploited. we need them to consider the worst case scenarios.

They can't even say it wasn't pointed out to them because it was again and again and again.

Actually now quite looking forward to April the 1st and my first hate crime report.

If I was trans I’d be horrified with all of the loud mouths forcing others to ‘accept’ me into places where I am understandably not wanted. I’d just use the disabled loo quickly. I’d just go to leisure centres with only mixed, cubicled changing. I’d just put no gender down in my parkrun setting. I’d want to quietly live my life under the radar. Instead activists drive up resentment against me.

A while back a different poster on this forum advised that we all delete our accounts and rejoin with anonymous ‘@proton.me’ email addresses that don’t have personal information connected to them.

I believe their concern then was a rumour that a transactivist had got an internship at MumsnetHQ and was giving out the names and email addresses of Mumsnet’s GC members to activists. I have no idea if that rumour was true, but thought the advice to go anonymous was good in the current climate. Especially after the litigious transwoman demanded Mumsnet hand over a member’s personal information.

I was interested that after I rejoined, my @proton.me account said that it had blocked a tracker contained in the welcome email from Mumsnet. Huh.

Waitwhat23 · 25/03/2024 23:40

To clarify slightly, the paid intern took screenshots of what she considered 'transphobic' posts and posted them onto Twitter for the baying TRA masses. As she had been signed in as an administrator when she took the screenshots, the IP addresses of those commentators were visible. This was 'by accident', apparently.

Just read the last Wings newsletter about how he’s probably has to stop despite being in England. I don’t support independence in the slightest, but am incredibly impressed by all the work he’s done in highlighting the dishonesty and madness of Holyrood. It worries me that we may be left with nobody able to speak out against ScotGov.

I do wonder if this was the Greens' and the SNP's aim all along...

What will be offensive be, though?

if I say “lesbians don’t have penises” a lesbian might agree but a bloke in heels might be sad.

is that really all there is to it?

cos lesbians don’t have penises

BlackForestCake · 26/03/2024 20:47

My internet just went down while I was reading this thread. Spooky!

It is very unlikely the courts would say that was hateful. However, you may have been arrested, had your electronic devices seized, and spent years with it hanging over you before the courts throw it out. Even if the police recognised that it is not ‘stirring up hate’ they have stated, and Humza has backed this up, that it will be recorded as a non crime hate incident. This only requires the perception of the accuser (or for them to claim it is their perception) and no further evidence. You won’t be told when one of these is recorded against you, you won’t be able to defend yourself, but it may well affect your employment should you need a PVG check.

It's fucking horrific, is what it is. The work of a would-be dictatorship.

It’s really something. As you put in pp analogous to extreme periods in history

And yet nothing..

You can see how Germany got there

Amongst other aspects, it is the invasion of the State into the home that is so utterly sinister. This is how states get power over people - to deny them privacy and volition.

Once children are informing on their parents, you've got them all in your power.

Waitwhat23 · 27/03/2024 10:35

And there's many professionals which are female dominated (education, early years, care work etc) where women require both an enhanced PVG and professional registration. This will stifle women who cannot put their employment at risk in case they are maliciously targeted by TRA's or those with a grudge.

Thinking about it as well, given there is no dwelling defence, there's a real possibility of abusive or disgruntled men using the reporting as a way of punishing their partner.

Waitwhat23 · 27/03/2024 10:36

Should read professions in the first line.

Dear god. The more you think about it, the worse it gets.

A child or stepchild with a grudge? Report mum! An abusive partner? Report the woman!

Educate / indoctrinate with gender ideology at school and then give the power to report in the home

It’s insanity. Where have the rational people gone? There’s hardly anything on this

Maybe the media will wake from its slumber when the first test cases come in or the system is overwhelmed with reports.

Cancelledcurio · 27/03/2024 12:12

Here me out here. I might be talking mince but I think it's all a big scam. I think they will announce soon after that they will have instant fines or some nonsense like that . No way will they able to prosecute or follow through all the possible reporting of potential Hate crimes. I have seen on twitter a certain demographic already threatening well known famous people screenwriter /much loved children's author etc with "dobbing them all in " . This is going to be constant with all the nasty wee Klipes of the day desperate to help Witchfinder General, sorry, Police Scotland. Prisons are full in Scotland, Justice (probation) services are rammed, so the delightful ScotGov will come up with a nice wee solution (earner).Instant Fines or some undemocratic bollocks like that. Then it will be contested and fall flat on it's bahooky. Cos the Snp are awful at legal stuff.Hell bloody mend them! They had the trust of the Scottish people and have betrayed them so much. Women and children and the poor and vulnerable especially.

Cancelledcurio · 27/03/2024 12:13

No idea why that went aw bold there, sorry!

SaffronSpice · 27/03/2024 13:27

They will immediately start being selective with their investigation. If you think they will actually investigate reports against Humza…

334bu · 27/03/2024 15:10

Don't know whether to laugh or cry.
