Temping in Edinburgh

I'd be interested to hear people's experiences of temping in Edinburgh - I haven't done it for over 20 years!

Any recommendations for companies? What're the wages like at the moment? And what kind of opportunities come through (e.g. short term v. long term, basic admin v. more interesting roles)?

I have a project management background in the charitable sector but need a change of scene and was wondering about temping for a bit.

Thanks!

I've been wondering something similar. Used to temp in Edinburgh 30 years ago when office, particularly legal work, was plentiful but I don't see many jobs advertised on recruitment websites for temps now.

As everyone uses computers/tech now, I think there is far less dependence on secretaries and support staff and companies aren't routinely using temps for holiday/sickness cover.

I haven't seen any interesting temp jobs advertised mainly people looking for someone to order stationery, manage diaries and make travel arrangements.

Venesky Brown are excellent, Harvey Nash often have an interesting selection of jobs. For charity jobs, Bruce Tait Associates are good.

I haven't temped in Edinburgh for 30 years! Never had any issues getting jobs while I was a student, temped in Scottish Widows, Bank of Scotland, Scottish tourist board - loved it! Used to work through an agency called ScotJobs which is defunct. Blue Arrow and Office Angels too.

Good luck!
